Nothing reveals the wisdom in Buddhism more than a big move. So much stuff. So much regret. Nothing that makes us as happy as it once did. We see impermanence everywhere. Yet we cling to as much as our bodies/emotions/budgets will bear, and then start the cycle again.

Americans tend to miss how Britain has basically perfected mass retail. Your typical M&S produce section is just incredible. John Lewis and Waitrose (co-ops!) balance accessibility and quality. Boots is good and reliable AND IN AIRPORTS. You're never more than 20 feet from some Meal Deal. Etc.

I don't think you have an obligation to maintain social ties with someone who makes you miserable, especially if that misery is persistent and, in your considered judgment, they are unlikely to change.

Today's side quest: making my own orthotics. In college, I drove a moped into a ravine and split my heel in two. Many surgeries later, it's nearly impossible to find insoles/orthotics that fit. So I've made my own!

My day job is at a rural branch of a public library, and we have a Pride display. Yesterday I was at the desk when a man came in. Fifties, maybe, or sixties. Plaid shirt, mesh trucker cap, suspenders. He went up to the display and just stood there for a long moment. Then he came up to the desk. 🧵 1/
