I interview a lot of college-age people for internships and they do not take the opportunity casually. I kind of hate how younger people are criticized for being overly casual when my experience is that they are wildly talented and care so much about coming across well. They are lovely. ❤️

Forty-six years on, Nine to Five (1980) a great movie. You might think you know it, that you remember it, but you don’t. Parts are a little clunky in the delivery, some of the transitions are very dated, but it takes some seriously risky swings and manages to connect on most of them. Also, Dolly.📽️🦋

If students using AI to write seems to force a choice between letting them and giving up writing, that’s a failure of thought — we give up writing either way. But in fact, anyone can still choose to write, and we have as many reasons to do so now as before. So what is it that we want from writing?

Part of what's happening here is that to those using AI, the definition of "writing" gets blurred with "writing up" as if one has fully formed ideas that just need to be showcased rather than that the ideas change/get sharpened/etc. through the writing process. /1

Always amused by people who write LLM prompts that include the exhortation to make the output super-double-good, like the "exceptional expert witness report" here. Will ChatGPT give you a shitty response unless explicitly asked? This seems like a design flaw!
