Isn’t it amazing the way life can seem too short, and intrinsically magical, yet at the same time feel like a long, uphill road, potholed with fuckwits?

How men feared women! she thought, walking among the late-flowering roses. Not as individuals, but women when they talked together, worked together, spoke up for one another - then men saw plots, cabals, constraints, traps being laid.

Politely gave a vendor shit for using AI to summarize the issue we raised this morning. At least he admitted using c0pil0t to build his response, rather than pass it off as his own. Told him his expertise is worth way more to me than what some LLM, with zero expertise in marketing, regurgitates.

I would give eleventy million dollars to be able to block every mention of AI on here, but I don’t think the filters are smart enough to block the term but not the letters as they occur in other words. Which sucks.

Sometimes my wife and I like to send each other text messages as though they’re democratic fundraising messages, and I believe she has produced the jewel of the form.
, it's
and I
have some personal news to share with you.
Being a mom is one of the greatest joys of my life, and I feel deeply that we should have salad tonight
This year has been challenging in many ways, and I have immense gratitude for the kindness and support of family, community, and people like you who have continued to stand by me through everything. It means the world, and I wanted you to be among the first to know that squash is in the oven and kale is in the fridge. As many of you are aware, ve been navigating one of the most challenging periods of my day while waiting for dinner.
Facing baseless federal hunger brought on by not eating since lunch, fighting for the working kids of this country, and now caring for a mean toddler and helping him grow up in a world that isn't always easy. But it has also reminded me exactly why I do this work and who I do it for.
I will never stop working to eat dinner. I will never stop fighting for what is right, even when there is also some feta in the fridge. And I will never stop being so very thankful that you are by my side in this important work and that there is tahini in the pantry for dressing
With love and gratitude,
stop to end

I love pigeons. 1hp animal. All available braincells dedicated to smell & spatial reasoning. Nest looks like this.

(Picture of a pigeon standing next to an egg amidst a pitiful sparse pile of twigs and straw. To be fair, the pigeon is apparently indoors where twigs and straw are not abundant.)

House of Cards. It was great before all the Spacey stuff broke, but then the show runners utterly tripped on their dicks when they were handed a golden opportunity to distance themselves by making Claire president. Her storyline was insulting at best and a waste of the best character on the show.

Four-panel comic of a fluffy black cat wearing grey armour and holding a sword and shield, against a pastel sky and green grass. The cat says: “It’s time for you to remember who the fluff you are.” Then: “A brave little warrior making a hard world softer.” Its eyes grow wide and sparkling as it adds: “I’d follow you into battle!” In the final panel, it says: “Or the kitchen.”

The Facial Expressions of Tethys by artist Julius von Bismarck. A suspended high-sea buoy that moves in real time. Sensors on a twin buoy out in the Atlantic Ocean send live satellite data to motors inside the museum. This makes the indoor buoy copy the exact, real-time movements of the ocean waves.

may you be filled with the confidence and verve of this “corpulent rearing steed”
DIEGO RODRÍGUEZ DE SILVA Y VELAZQUEZ (1599-1660)
Caballo blanco
1634-1638

Oil on canvas
This corpulent rearing steed with both forelegs off the ground has long been considered the one listed in the inventory of assets that Velázquez left in his studio at the Casa del Tesoro, a building beside the Alcazar in Madrid, after his death. It is drawn with the skill and style that characterised Philip IV's court painter, demonstrating his ability to produce a lifelike representation with a minimum of technical resources. It is clearly a finished work, pending the addition of a rider in the saddle, although it may have been intended as a model for other equestrian portraits. The picture is documented in the Alcazar until 1700, but at some point it disappeared from the Royal Collections and was not recovered until 1848, when Isabella II bought it fromDIEGO RODRÍGUEZ DE SILVA Y VELAZQUEZ (1599-1660)

It’s wild how much unsettling shit they peddled to kids in the 80s. Off the top of my head: - return to oz - watcher in the woods - something wicked this way comes - time bandits - watership down - the black cauldron - chitty chitty bang bang* etc. * this was 1968 but still popular in the 80s
