Please take care of yourself, stay away from main roads if possible. Don't burn stuff and keep driving to essential trips, to not increase pollution. Clearly UK government needs to step in and and up and finally protect #children. #airpollution.

It's outrageous that those in the wealthiest 10 per cent of areas can expect to have around 20 more years of good health than those in the poorest. This new study on life expectancy from @healthfoundation.bsky.social makes sobering reading. We hope this truly acts as a wake-up call for our leaders.

‘Quality of life’ isn’t a big house, luxury goods or a fancy car. It’s being able to cycle your kids on safe streets or run side by side down peaceful roads with your friends. Everyone can & should have this.

It may seem like nerdy detail that the increasing weight of cars is worsening potholes, but it matters. The car makers push to sell wider and heavier cars is increasing road maintenance costs and that affects us all. Not to mention worse crash outcomes and less space to pass (wider) parked cars.

Fantastic to see #SchoolStreets progress in Greater Manchester in the 2025 #ActiveTravel Annual Report. Our 2024 election campaign, with local GM groups, led to @andyburnham.bsky.social pledging to deliver 100 School Streets by 2028. And now? 33 in place, with plans for 80 by 2027 & 100 by 2028!

For the avoidance of doubt, those who are arguing for “drill baby drill” really don’t get the seriousness of the situation. We should not be falling back on technologies that damage us, our economy and our future, but rather be embracing increasingly cheap and reliable home grown renewable energy.

It seems so obvious that I struggle to understand how people fail to see it. Starmer tells us that *WE* have to stop Reform by voting Labour, whereas *HE* could do it by introducing PR. But then we'd lose any remaining incentive to vote for his party.

Air pollution in London and the Southeast is extremely high right now which can harm kids and those with respiratory conditions such as asthma. Staying away from big roads that are extra polluted already (and ideally avoid adding more car or burning pollution). uk-air.defra.gov.uk/forecasting/

The government is consulting on reducing emissions from burning right now. But the consultation does not match the health evidence. It deals with future emissions and will do nothing for the current situation that blights neighbourhoods. Respond by 19th March asking for action on current burning!

"Council should not be raising revnue" from school streets. May I remind the editor of our local newspaper that the only reason they are is because drivers choose to ignore the restrictions that were put in place to PROTETCT CHILDREN from getting hurt or killed outside their schools.

DEFRA has just published a consultation on solid fuel burning. We're happy to see a long-term campaign ask addressed - warning labels on stoves. However, the proposals will only impact future emissions; they will do nothing to help all those affected by existing burning. #CleanAirNight #WoodBurning

The Court found that even if car manufacturers had persuaded the Court of its confidentiality, public interest would be "squarely in favour" of allowing public access to the unredacted documents because of what appeared to be "credible allegations of serious misconduct" faced by the manufacturers.

Worrying to read about this new study into #WoodBurning. #Ecodesign stoves produce high levels of ultrafine particles. Manufactured fuels eg wood briquettes/smokeless coal emit more pollution than seasoned or kiln-dried wood, despite being marketed as cleaner alternatives. #AirPollution
