Then it should be used very specifically for specific jobs, with strict guardrails, and not propping up our entire economy, and being forced into everything. The same way I don’t need to know how to use, say, software for dental offices, or a forklift, most people don’t need AI.

Some Dems are running away from trans people. Abdul El-Sayed, Dem Senate Candidate in Michigan, is running towards them. When asked, he fully and unequivocally support trans youth care as a matter between parents, patients, and doctors. Subscribe to support our journalism.

"The Decision Ought To Be Between A Patient And Their Doctor," Says Michigan Senate Candidate El-Sayed On Trans Care
Even conservatives “agree that the decision about healthcare ought to be between a person and their provider,” El-Sayed said.

In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

It makes me sick to my stomach that I've seen Jason Arday referred to as a "serial fabulist" in almost every news piece I've read about him but none of those journalists ever bothered to lift a finger to figure out if it was true. He really did run 30 marathons in 35 days.

these people really want to make "racist" akin to a slur rather than what it is, a straightforward label for a set of beliefs and views. if you don't like the label because you, correctly, associate it with degenerate chuds, then get better beliefs

Meanwhile, the right never meant any of it. They moaned about "cancellation" for a decade but embarked on mass firings as soon as they took power. They pretended to care about "free speech restrictions" and "educational indoctrination" while embarking on them every chance they got.

Personally, I think what needs reckoning with is how fake it all was. Centrists convinced themselves annoying leftists on twitter were an equivalent threat to Jan 6 insurrectionists. They wildly inflated the threat of left-wing authoritarianism while ignoring how it was taking hold on the right.

Never forget the reason Jan 6 happened was because Trump was terrified the democrats would throw him in jail for the multitude of crimes he committed during the first term, never imagining anyone could fuck up such an open and shut case that badly

How come super villains have become reality but not super heroes? Why can't a stupidly rich person make it their personal mission to crush these people? Doesn’t even have to be out of the goodness of their heart, I'd be happy if they did it out of pure spite, whatever it takes

The actual harsh truth about MAHA is that it is an anti-vaxx, anti-science, pro-diarrhea conspiracy movement. It cloaks its arguments in abstractions about "big pharma" and "free speech" to generate *the exact op-ed The Atlantic keeps publishing*. Movements like this need to be fought, not placated.

Apologies if I sound angry, but it is a real problem that the 'smart' commentary on this war is trying hard to avoid the core lesson ("the president is a fucking moron") because it doesn't sound very clever when it is absolutely the most important takeaway from this debacle.

I think this is valuable! It is also an argument that is very commonly made, so I would not be contributing anything unique by highlighting it. The point I am making is one that is rarely made: the pressure to be practical at all times is dangerous to our humanity.
