This will never stop blowing my mind. A 12-year sequence of real telescope images of a star 133 lightyears away. And around it, four planets slowly orbiting. Four real exoplanets, each more massive than Jupiter, imaged as they move around their host star.

It's been such an awful couple of years. Let's honor one of the best people on the planet.

we live in a world right now where the rich (or those who wish to be so) are desperate to cast empathy as weakness. As the enemy. Throughout her whole life Dolly showed the exact opposite is true. Empathy is what makes us our best selves. For your own happiness, and others, be kind.

Lot's of things i could say about Dolly. Who became more of an inspiration to me the older i got. But i still remember the first time i PROPERLY realised that. it was a TV interview. she was asked what she'd learned over her successful career. She paused, laughed, and said simply: "Be kind."

I guess we're all supposed to just accept the notion that the right-wingers involved in this debate *actually support* viewpoint diversity, but history suggests that the minute they get power, they will expel or suppress anyone different. The administration is doing it *as we speak*.

Seems the real problem centrist democrats are facing right now is the people are being very clear that they want leaders who will solve their biggest problems, and centrist democrats really don't want to solve their biggest problems and hate the people for wanting that. It's a real pickle for them.

Diversified economies that offer many kinds of jobs to suit many different talents and preferences are extremely desirable: we should be making that point more. People should be able to get jobs they don’t actively hate and which take advantage of their talents.

The fact that Trump is going to oral arguments to pressure the justices to acquiesce to his attempted nullification of a constitutional amendment and create a stateless class for the first time since the civil war, illustrates what is really at the core of the Trump project and it isn’t tariffs.

We have enough evidence for UBI in general that this policy should be a given. But the difference is, to understand UBI works is to believe that people are fundamentally good. And a big chunk of society is built around the belief, *must maintain the belief* that people are fundamentally bad.

I have a friend outside of NYC who is generally progressive but fears and despises Zohran. She has her reasons, mainly fear that he is going to let crime get out of control. She also thinks that he will be the face of the Democrats in 2026 and 2028 and that will harm us electorally.
The first concern I think is overblown, the second concern is reasonable. But as a New York voter, I'm like... so I vote for an obvious loser like Cuomo? No thank you. If the Democratic party is so concerned about us not voting for their guy, maybe don't run such hilariously awful candidates?
