One of the main reasons that WSDOT isn't in the passenger ferry business anymore is Tim Eyman. Prior to I-695, WSDOT did operate foot ferries in the 1990s. Then budget cuts forced the legislature to decide what its real priorities were (shockingly: cars).

This is the first time I think that Sound Transit has actually shown a rendering of the infamous "trapezoidal" light rail station at Seattle Center that is expected to be $470 million cheaper than a simple box station, thanks to elimination of a mined section of tunnel.

I’m not familiar enough with the track layout. Is there not an alternate track trains could be routed onto out of the tunnel while the main track is lowered? Obviously way more coordination with BNSF but raising streets above adjacent buildings and stations seems crazy
