Lafayette Square isn't "a historic protest site." It's a fucking park. And it's packed on nice days. Calling it a protest site is White House framing. They're closing a popular public park to create a presidential palace Saddam Hussein would love.

One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

"By using AI, tasks like essays that used to take hours can be completed in minutes!" Sure, like how if I arrive at the gym and immediately go for a shower, my workout is done in record time. And if I throw my sandwiches straight in the bin, I can finish my lunch in under 10 seconds.

the letter in which she writes this is copyrighted but here's the key quote...
“You are quite right, I changed my mind and do no longer speak of “radical evil.” … It is indeed my opinion now that evil is never “radical,” that it is only extreme, and that it possesses neither depth nor any demonic dimension. It can overgrow and lay waste the whole world precisely because it spreads like a fungus on the surface. It is “thought-defying,” as I said, because thought tries to reach some depth, to go to the roots, and the moment it concerns itself with evil, it is frustrated because there is nothing. That is its “banality.” Only the good has depth that can be radical.

It got close to pre-war flow for a little bit but then Iran started firing on ships again, but even if it does return to normal, it will take over a month for those ships to reach port and offload their oil, so there's no relief anytime soon

NIH’s move toward multiyear funding is a major reason for the drop in grant numbers: The agency now commits several years of funding at once to fewer awards, rather than paying for projects one year at a time. www.the-scientist.com/federal-rese...

I think those people are more planning to try to cheat more votes in instead of attacking polling places. Trump gave that speech at the convention making his audience swear to cheat, and the J6 type people are going to take that literally. They think they should vote multiple times to offset others

1,000 ain't a lot, there's more than 1,000 polling places in many big cities alone I bet. That doesn't remove the chilling factor of what they're trying to do, but they need a MUCH bigger army if they're trying to sway the vote. Regardless, I signed up to be a poll worker this year, this is why.

The judges who signed off on him only going through the arrest process and being released on his own recognizance, because they didn't want to see a President in jail. I agree that he should have been imprisoned but that's not a Jack Smith decision.

He WAS arrested and the justice system made sure to let him go because they didn't want to see him in prison, that's not on Jack Smith

i believe the first indictment dropped august 2022. so about 2 years and change. Trump did what he always did, which is run out the clock. 2 years wasn't enough time. He needed 4. Garland should have appointed him on Day 1 and that extra time could have been a game changer

Jason SF @jboyce.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
And if Trump appealed to move it to Florida, that would have delayed the case a few more months he didn't have
010
Jason SF @jboyce.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Jack Smith did what he could with the time he had. That was on Garland for not appointing him earlier

Jason SF @jboyce.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
The crime occurred in Florida. It was legal for Trump to take the documents, because he was President at the time. It was not legal for him to *keep* the documents after he was no longer President. If Smith had tried to indict in DC, Trump would have pushed for it to be moved to FL, might have won

two doses of lethal drugs and still alive. heartbreaking and barbaric
A lawyer for Christa Pike said executioners have administered two syringes of lethal injection drugs to Pike but that she remains alive and breathing.
Kelly Gleason, an attorney for Pike, said she heard this from another of Pike's attorneys, Randy Spivey. Gleason said Spivey was in the death chamber with Pike but stepped out to call Gleason.
"She's alive and snoring," Gleason said.
Another attorney, Amy Harwell, is driving an emergency motion to the Tennessee Supreme Court, Gleason said.
"She needs immediate medical care," Gleason said.
