SDOT has decided that Alaska Junction, which has SIX car lanes along California Avw, two large paid surface parking lots that are rarely full, and no bike infrastructure at all, will get paid parking. I would replace street parking w/ bigger pedestrian zone, bike lane, and seating for the market.

I think a Vespa and Surron should both be in a new category that doesn't require a license (or at least not a full driver's license with motorcycle endorsement) and has a regulatory framework that makes cities more accessible.

I don't know why @transportation.seattle.gov installed a bike lane here only to close it pretty much all the time for taxi parking. The past dozen times I've ridden here it's been closed. Just don't install a bike lane and don't mark it on the map of its parking the majority of the time.

Finally made the 12 mile bike ride to the zoo! She loved it. Finding a route was tough, a lot of sidewalk riding where Maps said I could ride a bike. Will definitely take a long way around back home and go via the interbay area.

As I approached an intersection in the Delridge bike lane a man in a big pickup started road raging at the two drivers in front of him obeying a "no right on red" sign and red arrow. He floored it and passed them in the oblncoming traffic lane to make the illegal right turn, cutting me off.

Tapped on the passenger window of a driver parked partially in the Delridge bike lane and he got big mad. Drove up, gave the finger, stopped to let me pass, and then did vroom vroom behind me where the bike lane is closed. There was salmoning bike traffic so we really needed the full bike lane.

Do EV charging lots have 110v outlets for ebikes? I'm thinking about doing a ride to Lake Sammamish State Park with kid and kayak, but a little wary about pushing that range (45 mile round trip) with a super heavy load without being able to top off. They have EV charging but I can't find other info.

I just experience road rage from a Black SUV in West Seattle plate CLC5709. Tailgated me while I was going 20mph on my cargo bike. I came to stop and the old man gave me the middle finger and passed within an inch. Reported to SPD but I'm wondering if there's a community website for tracking this.

I don't know how people are against this. Either way you start work in the dark. Sign the work-through-lunch waiver and show up a little early and you'll have more than an hour of daylight after work. That's huge in a region where you go to work and leave in darkness for a big chunk of the year.

The super bright headlights on dark residential streets are a lot worse to deal with on a bike than in a car. I have a hard time seeing how close the car is passing me and I often have to just come to a complete stop. It's too blinding.

Cool find this weekend! A northern alligator lizard, Elgaria coerulea, sunning itself in a West Seattle park. Lizards are a very uncommon find in Seattle. When I put it down near its hiding spot it kept running back to me, climbing up, and hanging out on my leg and arm. Silly little dude!

RapidRide buses are mainly for people to leave a neighborhood and numbered buses are mainly for people getting around their neighborhood. They serve two different purposes and RapidRide shouldn't replace local buses.

This is a wonderful program, but the Washington State Legislature and @governorferguson.bsky.social defunded it this year. States pay a small $2.60 per book matching fund. The WA legislature decided that our kids aren't worth that much and took it away. The books stopped coming. Shameful.

King County has underfunded court systems to the point that there is a 2 month backlog for domestic cases. They only see 9 cases per day. A domestic abuse victim can file a request for a temporary order, their abuser sees it the next day, and they won't have a court hearing until late October.
