Big Streaming doesn't want you to know that Kanopy is kind of like Amazon Prime Video except that you have to pay for Prime and Kanopy is free. Oh also Prime shows ads even though you pay for it and Kanopy doesn't show ads even though you don't pay for it. Oh and Bezos doesn't get Kanopy's data.

Unironically, it's because if you tell ChatGPT you're right and explain why, it agrees with you and reframes your own words to tell you you're right back at you, and this is genuinely leading to a lot of people thinking all they have to do to get agreement is talk to people like they talk to bots

llms only “exist” to give one reply at a turn you: x llm: y then the whole process starts over. there is no continuity. each reply is 100% fresh. the context of your previous “conversation” is included, hidden from you, in every request you make. continuity is an illusion

The same thing happened with the animation studio which worked on that shitty Bluey knock-off, Chip Chilla. The animators had no clue it was a Ben Shapiro project until after they started working on it. Shapiro has a history of lying and hiding until it's too late and people get stuck in bad deals.

Being a billionaire must be insane. You can buy new teeth, new skin. All your chairs cost 20,000 dollars and weigh 2,000 pounds. Your life is just a series of your own preferences. In terms of cognitive impairment it's probably like being kicked in the head by a horse every day

it’s come to my attention that my tumblr post has been crossposted to bluesky, so I’m posting it on my account here #AntiAI #GenAI
recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

an image using sprites from Kirby's Adventure from the NES

two series of animations

1st series. Kirby standing still and then runs into a star and gets injured. it is captioned "negating a frame reinforces it"

2nd series: Kirby encounters a star, eats it, and then blasts it out as a fireball. it is captioned "eat their frame"
