El-Sayed once again confirms my Riz Theory of Politics. Once voters got to know him his numbers shot up because he’s got the riz, which overpowers ideological concerns. See also Reagan, FDR, Obama, Mamdani, AOC, etc etc etc

Lazy and stupid America. That's how everyone sounds. I love how the least creative, simple-minded people on earth think avoiding this shit is denying the future. It's the future THEY need because they're not cut out for real life. They yearn for those goo pods in the matrix

They quoted me in this New Yorker piece about AI today. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...
“Let’s say there’s a world or time line I exist in where A.I. has been subject to regulation. It is ethical. It has no footprint environmentally,” the novelist Jeff VanderMeer, a prominent critic of A.I., told me over the phone. “With those guardrails in place, would I read an A.I. book? All I can say is no. And the reason is, in part, because I want to read something coming from a particular mind.” Using A.I., he said, “feels like a betrayal of the whole point of why you’re a writer.”

Dobbs, the manosphere, anti-trans attacks, aggressive pro-natalism, Epstein files etc etc etc. A lot of people are brimming over with a rage at the growing power and arrogant impudence of a cruel and gruesome masculinity that has not been given an outlet. The Cornell case is lighting a powder keg.

A man replied to this saying in earnest that women need to get organized and fight for our rights and men will follow. We did that. We do that. We mobilized the largest single day protest in global history on every continent and yet I have fewer rights than my mom did at my age.

We really need to bring back exile as a punishment. Just give Zuck, Bevos, Musk et al their own islands to rule over with the proviso that they can’t bother the rest of us anymore.

Fox and the Trump administration are using the narrative of a new migrant “caravan” to drive attention back to border security, a rare issue where Trump and his party retain an advantage in the polls, but one whose salience has fallen. www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/fox...

Notice how fast people have been to believe the worst about the Cornell case. It's because everyone who's been to college has heard first hand horror stories about fraternities and sexual assault on their campuses.

The key to Mamdani is that he so clearly loves New York. Centrist mayors treat the city and its people as a problem to be solved and people can sense that. Rahm Emanuel appeared to hate Chicago and Mike Bloomberg seemed like he could barely tolerate non-wealthy New Yorkers.

I was recently stopped hanging out with a group of guys in part due to their casual misogyny. Every one of them has daughters who don’t know their own dad will never view them as full human beings. Just thinking about that today for no particular reason.

I have fewer and fewer conversations about politics with people outside of my closest friends and family, but I do not take it as a sign of apathy. I think a lot of regular people are so pissed right now that they're afraid to talk about it in public lest they fly off the handle.

The thing is, this kind of bullshit spew has been his MO for his entire life, decades before he became a politician. I instinctually disliked him in the 80s as a kid because he was so obviously full of shit. I don't get why this country continues to tolerate him, much less make him president.

The biggest reason why the public is so anti-AI boils down to the fact that we don’t see any positive impacts on our lives but already experience plenty of negatives.

Why is the U.S. public so much more negative on AI than almost anyone else? Well, I think the fact that the U.S. AI industry is being lead by a bunch of very visible, crazy weirdos who talk about how AI will take everyone’s job and maybe kill us all the time is a pretty key factor.
