These traitorous goofs offered up our FRESH WATER????? Full exposé on these idiot Alberta separatists here: archive.is/rhGUj
Excerpt from the Globe article reads: “A Globe and Mail investigation has found that Republican political operatives were on the ground in Alberta this year to assist the separatist campaign in its bid to leave Canada, while harbouring their own aspirations for the province to secede.
The Globe also found that when Alberta separatist leaders went to Washington to meet with the U.S. State Department, they offered up key assets from the province's resource portfolio, including access to fresh water and royalties on crude oil, in exchange for help transitioning to independence.
Through interviews with The Globe on both sides of the border, people involved in politics, the corporate sector and Alberta's pursuit of separatism have described persistent efforts by figures in the U.S. administration and conservative political establishment to support groups seeking American expansionism and independence for Alberta.”

"Carney is proving adept at dazzling international audiences, even as he jeopardizes fading hopes for a climate solution and delivers gigantic tax breaks to Canada’s corporate elite..." #CdnPoli
At his investment summit in Toronto last month, Carney announced a new “mega-deduction” corporate tax break. He didn’t mention fossil fuels.
But the exceptionally generous new measure is tailor-made for the fossil fuel industry; indeed, it bears an uncanny resemblance to what was requested by the Big Oil lobby group, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, in its prebudget submission in May 2026.
The mega-deduction, expected to cost Ottawa $36 billion in tax revenue over five years, allows companies to immediately write off a range of capital investments.
While it’s generated excitement throughout the corporate world, the new measure will be particularly beneficial to the fossil fuel industry, which makes huge investments in long-term assets like pipelines and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) facilities, notes Marc Lee, a senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives.

When offsetting has been studied for its long-term effectiveness or whether companies deliver what they say they will, the evidence is grim.
Scientists and environmental advocates across the country argue offsetting is being used to enable projects that should be prevented by species-at-risk legislation. Evidence shows that offsets are rarely implemented as proposed and, even when they are, almost never deliver the promised results.

The federal government’s own review confirms the lack of accountability. A report from the Auditor General’s office last year looked at four offsets and found none were progressing as planned.

The audit also found DFO had completed no analyses of the effectiveness of using offsets.

This does sound like the Doug Ford from a decade ago Torontonians know so well. And I'd gift it but I've run through all my gift links for the month. #OnPoli #ToPoli
Aware that the premier gives out his cellphone number freely, DiBernardo decided to get in touch. On Sept. 7, he sent Ford the following text:

Hello, I just saw the news in the Toronto Star that proposals from the city to retain the bike lanes and reduce traffic congestion were rejected without due consideration. A close friend of mine died in a cycling accident north of Bloor on university [sic] in an area where bike lanes were removed due to construction. This political move is going to cost Canadian lives at a time when we need to be more united than ever before. Please reconsider.

He didn’t expect to hear back. He only wanted to register opposition to a plan that will needlessly endanger lives (not to mention one that will have almost no impact on traffic, as an engineering report commissioned by Ford’s own government indicates). “I spoke from the heart,” DiBernardo told me. “And I almost immediately got a response.”

The response he got (verified by the Star): “I am sorry for your loss! Star is always truthful lmao! I have been talking to the Mayor last week about University!”

“What we’ve seen is a systematic bias against properly maintaining and funding our public health-care system and our public hospital system in favour of funding and supporting and encouraging the emergence of health care as a private business." #OnPoli #OnHealth
In Ottawa, they compiled data that showed the city has at least 10 MRI machines across its network of hospitals. Most of them close overnight — one at 3 p.m. — and shut down on weekends. City hospitals also have dozens of operating rooms, most of which close by 5 p.m. and on weekends, the report said.

If given the proper funding, hospitals could expand their hours of operation and perform the procedures being done at private clinics for far less money, it adds.

Kevin Skerrett, a researcher and executive at the Ottawa Health Coalition, said the move is part of an overall strategy of the provincial government to create a private health care system.

This is not how comms should work. Canadians are a target audience -- one could argue the most important audience. If the PM does value Cdns as an audience, then his avoidance of journos, now & in general, could come down to thinking Canadians won't like what he has to say if he says it in detail.
