Faster approvals require the necessary labour, ie the public service. Otherwise, they will be poorly done.

I’m gonna make a general comment here: every person who comes into a Black woman’s mentions to say she doesn’t know her intellectual place thinks that race and gender has nothing to do with it. BUT: The decision not to consider how Black women are targeted before commenting is itself misogynoir.

What isn't surprising: work requirements are reducing coverage because of paperwork burdens What is surprising: apparently The Pitt had a storyline that demonstrated the difficulty of navigating Medicaid redeterminations
“Hopefully we’ll be back on Medicaid by then.”

“How’d you lose it?”

“They sent a redetermination letter to our old apartment. It didn’t get forwarded.”

“And you haven’t been able to get it back since?”

“I’ve been trying for months. To get re-enrolled, you need tax returns, pay stubs… I cut hair. My income fluctuates.”

The invisible labor (often performed by women and marginalized folks) that keeps organizations afloat remains hidden and uncompensated. But those musing about AI's "transformation" of work have probably always benefited from this kind of labor in all parts of their life and don't see it as work.

Belief that “the market” will solve social ills is irresponsible and, frankly, childish. We need to plan, implement, assess, adjust, repeat.

We also need public investment in medical research and we need to ensure the discoveries are not sold to American pharmaceutical companies that build a fence, install a toll booth, and charge outrageous prices for access.

Very thankful for Canada’s socialized health care system. But it can be better. We should cover more ✅ medications 💊 ✅ dental procedures 🦷 ✅ mental health treatments 🧠 ✅ preventative care We can do these things 💪 We can afford these things💰 Our governments choose not to 😤

Too big too fail should apply to industrial operations not the ownership claims. If a bank fails, the owners made the wrong bet. Let their claims go to zero. If public powers are needed to preserve the functional apparatus of the bank, then put it under public ownership.

When the federal government says, “We can’t afford it” they actually mean, “We don’t want to do it.” Anything we can physically do—like put everyone in a home—we can afford.

Carney wants project approvals to be fast. Then they can either be cheap or they can be good. He’s trying to make them cheap by slashing public service jobs.

This correct. Deprivation is a brutal form of constraint. It would tend to undermine creative potential. Creativity requires risk-taking. Those deprived have more to lose when creative undertakings fail.

How do we recognize the potential for deprivation to spur creativity without glorifying poverty? I think it requires the community, which provides the safety net to protect the deprived from annihilation.

Were thrown away and coping isn't somthing I can do. It’s made me feel ugly, unworthy, can’t go get a job with no teeth. So how can get off the streets until another pair can be made?
