Combined with being “not recommended” at all for most children, generations will go through adult life with most of them completely unvaccinated. Insanity - far worse than anything MAHA has achieved.

The govt saves money while implicitly propagating the necessary myth that the only people who need to worry about Covid are the very old or very sick. Manufacturing consent to be made sick by a preventable pathogen is a capitalist tool of cultural hegemony.

How To Be a Poet

(to remind myself
Make a place to sit down.
Sit down. Be quiet.
You must depend upon
affection, reading, knowledge, skill-more of each than you have-inspiration, work, growing older, patience, for patience joins time to eternity. Any readers who like your poems, doubt their judgment.

Breathe with unconditional breath the unconditioned air.
Shun electric wire.
Communicate slowly. Live a three-dimensioned life; stay away from screens.
Stay away from anything that obscures the place it is in.

Nice new report that includes this lovely little bit: by 2035 we could erase 100% of Hormuz oil and ~1,000% of Hormuz gas by switching to clean tech, EVs, energy efficiency etc. www.energy-transitions.org/wp-content/u...
Measures such as electric vehicles, renewable electricity, heating electrification, sustainable fuels and energy productivity could cut global oil demand 16–20% (displacing 82–110% of Hormuz flows) and gas demand 26–34% by 2035, reducing dependency on the Hormuz route.

QUEENSLAND GENOMIC ANALYSIS REPORT: SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance: 21 July – 17 August 2026 🔸NB.1.8.1: ~32% 🔸PQ.16.1.1: ~30% 🔸XFG: ~11% Source: www.health.qld.gov.au/__data/asset...
A genomic analysis report for SARS-CoV-2 Surveillance by Queensland Health, dated 17 August 2026, tracking the reporting period of 21 July to 17 August.
The summary bullets state that clinical samples were collected between 1 July and 1 August 2026. NB.1.8.1 was the most frequently detected lineage at ~32% of cases, followed by PQ.16.1.1 at ~30%, and XFG stable at ~11%. It notes a reporting change where PQ.16.1.1 sequences were previously grouped under parent lineage NB.1.8.1 until its WHO VUM designation on 27 July 2026.
Below the text is a stacked area chart titled "Trends in SARS-CoV-2 Sub-lineage proportions" (Figure 1), tracking Omicron lineages in Queensland from March to August 2026. The chart visually highlights the rapid rise of NB.1.8.1 (dark blue) and PQ.16.1.1 (pink) starting in July, dominating the lineage proportions by August, while previously dominant lineages like JN.1 (red) and KP.3.1.1 (green) decline.

Social media and scientists – the communication must go on
The grey (US: gray) literature is that written material which is not part of the "traditional" publishing model - unpublished, privately published or non-commercial writings. GreyLit can also include blogs and tweets and other such social media (SoMe) output. Blogs, tweets, Facebook posts can all be produced far more rapidly than any peer-reviewed literature. Last year I tweeted about having an accepted manuscript sitting with a publisher for over 19 weeks. That's pretty slow. GreyLit can be edited easily and can reach further because it is openly accessible to the public.

The image is a digital report from Queensland Health, titled "Queensland Government," with data extracted on 05 May 2026. It provides a snapshot of respiratory virus impacts in the region:
•	COVID-19: 57 people are currently hospitalized. In the last week, 342 people were diagnosed, with 34% of those cases being individuals aged 65 or older.
•	Influenza: 8 people are currently hospitalized. 139 people were diagnosed in the last week, with 11% aged 65 or older.
•	Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV): 46 people are hospitalized. 546 people were diagnosed in the last week; notably, 31% of these new cases are children under 2 years old.
The data highlights that while COVID-19 and Influenza largely affect older populations, RSV is significantly impacting infants and young children in Queensland.
