Being a sentient person in 2026 means arguing in public for issues you never thought you would have to articulate out loud: "Read to your children yourself instead of outsourcing it to a robot!" "Don't televise executions!" Things like that.

I think the miscalculation of the current regime is they expected overt fascism to awaken this sleeping giant of people who were craving brutal violence on their neighbors. that's turned out not to be true.

Ossoff: "They've unleashed federal agents to kill Americans on the streets of our cities with impunity. That's Mike Collins's immigration policy. And that's what you'd expect from the bigot congressman who called for executed immigrants by throwing to their deaths out of helicopters."

I come back to Dead Don't Die periodically, not because it's such a great zombie movie, but because it's such an apathetic one. It kind of has a sure "sure, zombies I guess. Does it matter? Does any of this matter?" vibe I really resonate with. Plus tilda swinton an a samurai obsessed alien.

Finally into season 3 of the witcher. Looking at the season 4 trailers again i'm not sure i'll be able to get through season 4 tho. Hemsworth's line delivery and physical presence is so much less interesting

Is he trying to say the war is worth preventing an attack on major cities but also reveling in the idea of liberal cities being attacked? His sundowning is getting really confusing

I don't know how but we have to teach people to be better at detecting bullshit. Instead we have this ersatz skepticism where people are suspicious about the wrong things and find their way to conclusions that are worse than if they just blindly accepted conventional wisdom

I think given everything we know and the events around the 2020 election, you have to read this as the start of his attempt to steal the election. He will claim the polls are wrong and fake and then transition to saying the same about the votes on the election night as an excuse to interfere.

U.S. forces are retreating. That's what this means. "Pulled out and returned to their home stations in the U.S. as potential Iranian threats raise base security concerns" is a fancy way of saying the Iranian military has the U.S. military in retreat. This is unbelievably embarrassing.

it's wild these days that there's not even the tiniest hint of expectation that the gov justify claims of imminent threat. They're saying it and you, as a responsible news agency, are just passing it along without comment.

"The current level of political animosity is exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s citizens." There are not enough exclamation points to convey how I felt reading this paragraph
Screenshot of article which reads: From this perspective, the “both sides” frame falls apart. The prob-
lem is not that the parties are divided. The problem is the existential
threat that a reempowered ethnonationalist strain poses to pluralistic
U.S. democracy writ large. The current level of political animosity is
exactly what one would expect to see if an extremist faction attempted
to rescind the hard-earned rights of the vast majority of the country’s
citizens. The only way to re-oppress most of a country is to use anti-
democratic and authoritarian tactics. And the only way to oppose those
tactics is to push back as a population and clearly reject them. This is
the argument happening in the United States, and its pathology is not
anger—it is the movement to undermine a generation of rights.

WAVE (1994) Acrylic on Canvas - 48” x 48” Of all the paintings hanging in my home, this one probably elicits the most comments. #art
An exponential curve expressed as a massive wave of green-blue water that climbs to vertical against a sky of puffy lavender clouds. Light breaks through the cloud cover just over the horizon casting a flat glare across rippling water before the wave climbs. Fin-like ridges emerge running up the wall give the water turbulence and dimension.

Here’s the monthly data with a 12-month trailing average, so we don’t “look ahead” of the time series. We can see that visits from Canada are substantially down. Like, a *lot*. And if we looked at the French series by itself we’d see something too. But it’s not on the scale of Covid. Yet.
Smoothed monthly graph shows Canada has dropped in visits substantially, but not to the extent we saw in Covid
