Night. The House of Chimes - a tower which you might immediately think of as Big Ben - is adrift in the River Thames. It still seems to be keeping time. In the background, a large, alien building looms over the city of London.

Ah yes. That’s the Tom Watson I remember. The one who had a mob follow the Lib Dem candidate around in the Birmingham Hodge Hill by-election, labelling her “Nokia Davies” and alleging she wanted to put up phone masts everywhere to give children cancer despite marketing himself as the pro-tech MP.

I am much less sanguine about the existence of billionaires than Cameron Cummins-Smith. But the solution, for me, is not to tax them out of existence but better regulated and enforced anti-trust legislation. Leaving multi-millionaires in charge of rent-seeking monopolies isn’t my idea of a solution.

My hot take that a lot of my leftist friends won’t like very much is: at least they’ve spent a week saying it. That’s more than I really saw coming from the Lib Dems last week. These are words we can hold them to. It’s not a lot but it’s not nothing.

Misread that as “glinner of hope” which feels more accurate. I don’t know what the dictionary definition of glinner is but it’s definitely something negative.

It really gives the game away when the anti trans orgs are calling the election of the neo nazi party in Germany a "glimmer of hope."
A screenshot of an online article headline from "Inspecting Gender" by Genspect. The main heading reads: "Germany: A Glimmer of Hope for Sex Realists?" Below the title, the summary text asks: "Is the victory of the AfD in Germany a dark day for democracy or a glimmer of hope for sex realists? By David Allison." The bottom metadata displays the Genspect logo, "5 hours ago," and a "Listen" audio option button. In the top right corner, there is a teal "Subscribe" button alongside a circular profile avatar.

Great moments in Scottish engineering history: James Watt tries to work out how his phone attaches to his selfie stick.
Statue of James Watt. In his right hand he holds a telescopic stick with a frame at the top; in his left he holds a flat object about the size of a large smartphone. He is scowling at the possibly-not-a-smartphone as if he is tempted to yeet it into the sea. On that basis, it probably _is_ a phone.

The Israel FA will also appeal both yellow cards awarded to Saied Abu Farchi during Thursday's defeat to Austria. Farchi was given a second yellow after he celebrated scoring an equaliser by uprooting the corner flag, an action interpreted by officials as mimicking the firing of a rifle.

Israel dispute this interpretation. “Anyone familiar with him knows it was an imitation of a snooker player, like the legendary Ken Doherty," their spokesperson said.
