The Times has a real hard on for Silicon Valley and is pushing its “Titans of AI” series. Remind me what the Titans did to their children again?

Saying this game is for people who “weirdly enjoyed Threads or Chernobyl” and setting it on my birthday feels remarkably personal, @handiworkgames.bsky.social @malcolmcraig.bsky.social
The bunker game
Malcolm Craig & Jon HodgsonOn Detober 25, 1862, global nuclear war broke out.
Vou are in a bunker just outside a nearby city. It is two weeks after the outbreak of war.
THE BUNKER GAME
Driginally a teaching aid for students of Cold War History, now adapted into a tabletop experience, in The Bunker Game you take the role of inhabitants of a nuclear bunker running short on supplies. Together in raft debate style you must decide who is going to be ejected from the bunker.
While this iteration of The Bunker Game provides a little more structured strategic play and casual role play hijinks than its original version, the core questions thrown up by play remain.
The original Bunker Game was designed by Malcolm Craig, Senior Lecturer in Cold War History, and this new adaptation was by don Hodgson, with art and design by Paul Bourne.
The Bunker Bame is for 4 to 18 players, and works best with Bor more. Included in this book you'll find personnel reports, tokens. and event cards to cut out. With mature themes and premise, The Bunker Game is recommended for mature players who weirdly enjoyed Threads or Chernobyl.

As I expected, the new Star Wars D&D is going to be a standalone game and not a supplement to the existing game, making it far closer to the D20 Star Wars games that a lot of commentators I think were expecting.

Stewart clearly knows about Yudkowsky, given his quip about Harry Potter fanfic. I’d have liked to see more scrutiny of his Rationalist ties. There was a revealing moment when he joked about getting offers of sex for going public. It was laughed off, but that’s basically on the public record.

I’m visiting my mum at the moment. Her mum (my nana) used to be part of a dance troupe with Frank and Peggy Spencer. They remained lifelong friends and she continued teaching at the Royston dance hall in Penge.

To be fair, it isn’t as if she personally chose to highlight this policy today. It’s not her job to be on top of every random policy that crosses journalists’ desks. Oh.

I have a strict rule of reading fiction between my depressing non-fiction books, which is why I read a book about the rise of fascism lead by an apocalyptic death cult between my two non-fiction books about the rise of fascism lead by apocalyptic death cults. When’s the next Brink coming out?

The panel pointing out how the “peacekeeping force” that replaced the Kreelers was just the same men in different uniforms is rightly celebrated, but it’s striking how drab the Kreeler uniforms are compared to what they’re replaced by; lesser creators would have gone the opposite route.

In other words, ambitious ministers who get their chops into their brief and run with it, while a passive centrist prime minister stands back and lets them get on with it - as the UK constitution allows. 45 years later this is striking given Thatcher’s long shadow; the politics here is much more 70s

Aside from maybe some superficial similarities to Trump, the most striking thing about this story is how the antagonist, Nelson Bunker Kreelman, is just an ordinary humdrum, familiar feeling politician. He isn’t even Prime Minister; just a populist making the most out of anti-mutant sentiment.

Reread Strontium Dog: Portrait of a Mutant this evening, for the first time in maybe 2 decades. The thing that struck me on this reading, now that we live in much darker times, is just how mundane this particular story about genocide is. I don’t mean that as a criticism. @2000ad.bsky.social

In retrospect, it is insane that Paradox (the DC imprint responsible for Road to Perdition and History of Violence) published so many Big Books, and that I bought them all. I even read most of them, although the quality was variable.
Book spines of a bunch of books in the “Big Book” range, including the Big Book of Urban Legends and the Big Book of Conspiracies.

Watched the first three episodes of Wonder Man this evening. So far it has exceeded my expectations; Kingsley and Abdul-Mateen are both exemplary. The cats are less impressed though.

I’ve been enjoying the recent Angry Planet reprints from Tornado in the Megazine. God I love Belardinelli. Big E*: "You got the pictures of the robot dogs ready?" Massimo Bellardinelli: "Sure-a did boss, real-a fucking sexy just like you asked." Big E: "What."
