Update - Yukon Gold potatoes. According to the information that came with the seed potatoes, they should be ready to harvest the first week in May. I don’t see any signs of them slowing down, though. No yellow leaves or flowers. Oh well. There’s nothing to do but wait.

Looking down at 2 grow bags with potato plants growing in them.

Collards have graduated to the big garden right ahead of the rain. I experimented with placing the smaller Alabama Blue between the Green Glaze. I might end up moving it, though. I think those Green Glaze collards will jump.

Just sent 6 collard seedlings home with my sister, 2 of the following - Big Daddy Greasy, Green Glaze McCormack’s, and Alabama Blue. She said hers weren’t growing well. Alas, no pictures.

This week's free short story on my website is a regency mystery. It's available through Saturday, February 22nd. iretteypatterson.com/category/wee...

Book of Accounts - A Regency Short Story

“Miss,” Mary hiccupped. “I’ve been dismissed.”
She stuffed a note in my hand.
I skimmed it. “What is this about a necklace?”
“I did not steal the necklace, Miss. I told them, but they didn’t believe me.”
“You did follow the rules regarding the restrictions of certain areas of the house?”
“Yes, Miss. I didn’t steal it. What will I do?”
What will I do was the question in my mind. The Mayfair Asylum School for Wayward Girls was a financially fragile institution. I started it just after Uncle died to train girls who were on the streets to enter the domestic service. With the defeat of Napoleon, there was optimism in the area. And with that, a loosening of the purse strings.
But. A reputation meant everything in the world. And just a hint of scandal and that dream would be destroyed. No more sponsors. No place for the girls to go. No hope.

Available through February 22nd
