I have mostly decoupled my ebook purchases from Amazon (despite the many steps it takes to get books on to my kindle). Now I'm stuck where some authors, whose work I get often, that only publish via Amazon. Either I stop reading them or continue with a kindle and cumbersome process.

I learned the other day that mouthwash has "no theraputic properties" and that it can cause tartar build up and staining. My hygenist told me to stop using it. I looked at the dentist, somewhat aghast. She backed her up. Big mouthwash is lying to us.

I spent the weekend moving from Windows to Ubuntu on my personal laptop. I'm partially done - lots of software I've yet to get functioning. Why does the Ubuntu GUI still look it did in 2000? It is ugly and not particularly functional. I'm considering Mint but that would be another few days spent.

Lamponi Thai on the Sammamish plateau in Washington State. Small family business who fled the Kmher Rouge in Cambodia. The food had more flavor than anything I'd encountered (before or since). They did something with their pad Thai to make it attend out. I've not been able to figure out what.

Those machines that measure how hard you hit them? I belted one. It was either broken or locked. Broke 3-fingers, fractured wrist, fractured scaphoid. 6 months in plaster. Another 6 in occupational therapy to be able to use the hand again.

A lot of books reads in December courtesy of shorter Georges Simenon reads. His Maigret series is a bit of a mixed bag and certainly something of it's time (attitudes towards women, psychology, etc) which can make it a rough read at times #booksky

With MTV shutting its music channels in Europe, here's a minor anecdote from back in the day. The year was, heck, I don't remember, the early 90s? I was working in a Tandy's (think a UK version of Radioshack) and satellite TV was picking up steam (this was before cable or even Channel 5). 1/5

I'm ripping my "Gatchaman" blu-ray to my NAS. It cracks me up that this is 1080p content for a 1970s cartoon in 4x3 ratio that's 480p at best.

I just finished "Absolute Superman: Last Dust of Krypton" TPB and it was not what I expected at all. It's an excellent alternative take on Superman's history and what that means in a world where a single corporation controls everyone's way of life.
