The "Erasing mothers" one was popular framing. I especially saw Ireland's minuscule TERF community really hammer it Erasing marriage is absolutely a new one on me. Sounds like something more they pushed against the SSM referendum like 9 years prior to that

8 years after Repeal, those seeking abortion in Ireland are still subject to an unnecessary 3 day waiting period, an unworkable 12 week cut off, and a lack of providers throughout the country. If that doesn't sound very much like Repeal to you, join the march in Dublin this Saturday!

I know everyone has seen the Miyazaki clip of him saying that AI art is an insult to life itself and we humans are losing faith in ourselves but sometimes it still strikes me that he said that in 2016 and every single year the quote becomes more true and undeniable

Today we remember Nell McCafferty on the 2nd anniversary of her death. In 1985 she signed an agreement with Attic Press, the feminist publisher, to write a book on the infamous Kerry babies case. ♀️ A Woman to Blame is a searing depiction of "a witch trial" in modern Irish history.📚

I need people to understand the relevant context of this policy shift is not just the genocide, but Jim O’Callaghan’s political ambitions. He is staking his claim for the top job on being seen as tough on immigration. Palestinians are the most sympathetic but by no means the only victims

Have always said it’s Wicklow. Nicer fancier places for retirees along the coast, far weirder remoter heads further inland. Other counties give the nuttiness or the retirees but miss the crucial balance

It's frustrating when people complain about the very, very few Irish bureaucratic things that are going really well. The Irish passport office is as speedy and efficient as you could hope for.

The thing about nuclear, yes, great, go build one... But what about the 30 years between now and one feasibly coming on stream? it doesn't actually address the problems that we face in any reasonable way....so much so that it doesn't deserve the attention it gets

People have it in their head that abortion seekers are silly young ones. Before we opened up abortion access here in Ireland the majority of abortion seekers going to the UK were already parents and many were over 40.

I dont have any quippy one liners for this. Men are just proving over and over again that they hate women and a woman who isnt obedient and pregnant shouldn't be alive. A woman who just wants to live her life and have control of her own body is an enemy of the state. www.wcnc.com/article/news...

The analysis of the SF vote is going to be about Mary Lou and her leadership. While that might a factor, uf you're not going to include any analysis of their recent comments and votes, it's going to be a failing of an analysis.

People are going to be all over Sinn Féin struggling in the Dublin Central and Galway West by-elections and they will have a point but Fianna Fáil are on track for even bigger flops. If Mary Lou is justifiably gonna get raked over the coals for this, Micheál should also come under serious pressure.

Regulating airbnb being turned into another "attack on rural Ireland" shows how ridiculous and meaningless that phrase is. Increasing the available houses so people can actually live where they're from as opposed to being priced out by landlords and holiday homes is an attack on rural Ireland 🤷‍♀️

Soon a member of the opposition will bring up the blatant two-tier policing we've all witnessed, & the Gov, led by Harris, will go full hysteria in response, assisted by the likes of Fionnan Sheehan, screaming "how dare you criticise our police force?!" till they're red in the face. And it'll work!

Notable as the Muslims Sisters went out of their way to be non-threatening to the protesters beforehand. It really does only take a handful of people to cause huge problems, but as long as the protesters tolerate that handful, that is entirely their fault and they shoulder responsibility.
