This is now the middle of a city-region of 7.5 million. In any reasonable planning scenario, this pocket of houses would be getting high-density redevelopment to match what's happening 400m away. (The current compromise, allowing high-end townhouses, will lock in lowrise for generations.)

This is seismic news for fisheries scientists. Northern cod is *the* iconic symbol of total fisheries collapse due to overfishing (and other factors) *and* the iconic symbol of a complete failure to recover for decades afterwards. This is like announcing the complete recovery of bison on land.

Every few months the kids & I go ride various trains in Toronto. Today’s adventure was riding line 6 and not going to lie it’s not great. The Citadus trains aren’t as nice as the Flexities on other lines and I’m fairly certain we hit every red light. IMO the above ground bits of line 5 work better.

I feel like it's time the government started doing more things like the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance for other sectors of the economy. I could easily see dedicated research funding for forests, mines, transportation, etc. being a worthwhile investment.
