I was just up in Tombstone for the first time (stunning!!), saw one of these milky rivers right by the campsite, and even had a chat with a hydrologist who was going to do some sampling. Scary stuff for these lands & peoples - and changing so quickly!!

By now we know that it was not JUST glacier ice, but a tremendous bedrock landslide that collapsed in Nepal. @planet.com satellite imagery shows a fairly large (0.17km2) lake has formed, which could release a sizeable flood if it were hit by further rockfalls. This is concerning for rescue workers.

I've had freshman have no joke nervous breakdowns over grades. I've had more than one student cry in front of me bc they thought they were gonna fail my course & had no way back. Not all but many students at elite unis have extremely unhealthy relationships w grading that needs to be changed.
