Librarian caught me taking a blissful sniff of the Duke Humfrey's Library... In my defence, it smells (a) really nice and (b) of the Leuven University Library and therefore of pure nostalgia. I aim to befuddle at least one person a day, just to keep everyone on their toes. Achieved for today.

Having just started teaching new undergraduates at uni, I think we're missing a key issue in the debate about AI: these kids do not know how *not* to use AI, full stop. We assume they are 'digital natives' but they are not and a Google Scholar search is as alien to them as an archival card-index.

For nearly a week now, my lap has become a battleground. The mum often wins, quietly sneaking in while her daughter is still crashing about. The look of disappointment in her beautiful blue eyes 🥺😭
Picture from the vantage point of a coach. In the foreground you can see one leg of a lap, the rest of the lap covered by a snoozing Siamese cat. In the middle distance, you can see see another Siamese cat, distinctly not snoozing and not on a lap, and looking very forlorn about that situation. Her head is tilted upwards to the snoozing cat and her beautiful blue eyes convey sadness.
