Absolutely fascinating to see Laura Kuenssberg interviewing Burnham, flailing to adjust her stance to a politician with a moral argument and a positive message, who stands up for his policies and answers her questions clearly. She is getting so agitated at him not playing the game by the 'rules'.

RIP 'make Brexit work' 🪦 Andy Burnham has buried the slogan, says Chair @leedsblue67.bsky.social in today's @yorkshirepost.co.uk 📰 Our PM accepts closer EU cooperation is essential. Burnham isn't yet proposing we #RejoinEU, but this significant change is welcome! 🇪🇺 #Leeds #Yorkshire #UKPolitics 👇
A scanned letter to the editor published in The Yorkshire Post on Thursday, September 10, 2026, headlined "PM's admission on Brexit a welcome change". Written by Peter Packham, Chair of Leeds for Europe, the letter argues that Prime Minister Andy Burnham has officially buried Keir Starmer's "make Brexit work" strategy. Packham highlights Burnham's recent Commons admission that Brexit has "compounded the damage" and ushered in "low growth". The author welcomes the government's unprecedented positive noise regarding closer European collaboration, noting that while Burnham isn't proposing rejoining the EU yet, this marks a significant and welcome change in political direction.
