Sadly, still no luck. Here's all memories - it is Irish or Irish-American - everyone thinks the narrator is normal and boring, maybe an accountant - he is a hit-man, employed unwittingly by his brother-in-law -proved his worth by underlining a phone book in a bar, on a single name, and killing them.

A horror flick so demented and distressing t's hard to believe a benevolent God would allow it to exist. 98 seriously messed up minutes of a feral manchild slaughtering women and kids because he can't tell the difference between humans and mannequins. Have I mentioned that there's a musical number?

And that's why I love Euro Cult soundtracks. Totally bonkers title tune by Roberto Pregadio for Il Sorriso Della Iena/Smile Before Death (1972), a very unusual giallo that is low on death count but high on psychological manipulation. youtu.be/zxJzMGVVR_0?...

Another throwback! Two years ago today I posted abt "The Mystery of Woman," a rare Cornell Woolrich opinion piece from LADIES' HOME JOURNAL (July 1944), that solidified him as a feminist-leaning author for me. (If I ever collect my Woolrich reviews/essays, this will no doubt be the opener.) #noir

The Shadow magazine, cover dated September 15, 1939. This issue featured the first appearance of the Shadow’s archenemy, Shiwan Khan. Cover art by Graves Gladney. And yeah, it leaned heavily into the “Yellow Peril” trope still common in the early to mid 20th century.

The cover shows Shiwan Khan sitting menacingly in a chair.

A curious case of What If? Prior to hiring Pierre Brice as Winnetou in "Der Schatz im Silbersee/Treasure of Silver Lake", Rialto’s first Karl May film, Christopher Lee had also auditioned for the part in full Apache makeup, alas never got the role.
