I’d just like to go on record as saying I love Bonita Granville – her body language, especially. I’m sorry she didn’t get the stardom she deserved. Special plug for her performances in Merrily We Live (1938) and Syncopation (1942). #TheNoirCollective #TheGuilty

From November's @sightsoundmag.bsky.social , some well-deserved praise for @selfstyledsiren.bsky.social and @kimmorgan.bsky.social #MarilynMonroe #MM100 #BFI
Readers' Letters: 'BLONDE JUSTICE' - includes photo captioned 'SUGAR RUSH: Marilyn Monroe as Sugar Cane in Some Like It Hot'

"Having recently curated a Marilyn Monroe retrospective at the Metropo-lis Kino in Hamburg, I was delighted to discover the June issue of Sight and Sound with her on the cover.

I would like to pay particular compliments to Farran Smith Nehme, Hannah McGill and Kim Morgan.

Their contributions gave Monroe the tribute she so urgently deserved: they took her seriously as an actress, rather than reduced her to the accepted narrative - Marilyn Monroe as victim. She was so much more than that. Above all, she was an exceptional artist.

Thank you for an issue that treated Monroe with the seriousness, curiosity and respect that her work merits."

As an aside, both Glen Campbell and Roy Clarke were part of the legendary "A-Team" session musicians. These guys played on literally hundreds of early rock and country records as part of the backup band for both famous stars and people who you have never heard of.

KANSAS CITY CONFIDENTIAL (1952) doesn’t approach the vérité mastery of Phil Karlson’s later Noirs, but it’s inventively structured, well cast, and brilliantly shot. Some directors were made for the low budget indie milieu and Karlson seems to be one. #TheNoirCollective #FilmSky
