An opposition party doesn’t denounce tyrannical, masked government agents for shooting Americans and disappearing people off the street while voting to give those agents more money.

Extremely optimistic view, narrow imo. Important to recognize that we lost our first encounter with AI in the form of algorithmic dissemination of information. It's ripping apart our ability to recognize truth from falsehood and is segmenting discourse into more isolated spaces. It's gonna get worse

WASHINGTON—Vowing to restore and revitalize the facilities as a symbol of law, order, and justice, President Donald Trump ordered the U.S. government Monday to reopen Joann Fabrics and Crafts stores as federal prisons. “I am directing the Bureau of Prisons to use all 850 Joann locations to house America’s most ruthless and violent Offenders,” Trump wrote […]

The reason why I cry listening to these old songs isn't because I want to return to the past. It's through music that I get to bear witness to all my past selves. I can see the girl and woman I used to be. She doesn't know I'm there. I know my future self is here, right now, watching these tears.

Really good run down from Naomi Klein about how the modern oligarchic movement is one based on their own perverse logic that is divorced from empathy and ethics.

A lot of people who've analyzed postmodern culture stress how form takes absolute precedent over content. Nowhere is that clearer than using the sound of Rage Against the Machine to rage for the machine

One of my long held beliefs
Know the work rules meme. "Handsome" suited guy talking to a woman working reception, he says "Cheap, shitty practical effects" and the woman swoons saying "Awww, you're sweet.".

The panel below a less conventionally handsome dude is saying "Cheap, shitty CGI effects." The receptionist is reacting and fear and calling someone, saying "Hello, human resources?!".

The corporate coup is global. Trump's mad tariffs do not mark the end of neoliberalism or free trade or whatever you want to call it. They mark the end game of what we have been fighting for decades: corporate rule. They do not believe in the public. They believe in their wealth.

My name is Clyde, the co-creator of STEPPERS, a comic that delves into themes of scarcity, economic turmoil, and our complex relationship with art and identity. It asks questions about political resistance against violent systems that alienate us from feeling accountability. Relevant? idk, maybe
The comic page is composed of four panels, rendered in a grayscale, noir-inspired style.

Top Panel: A vintage-style car, driven by a mouse character, approaches a crosswalk at night. Sitting beside the driver is a crow character. Both appear serious as they observe a figure crossing the road ahead. The figure, a hooded character carrying a large, blank sign, walks briskly with their face turned away.

Second Panel: A closer view reveals the hooded figure holding a protest-style sign that reads, "THE END IS NEAR." The figure's expression is obscured by their hood and dark sunglasses, adding an air of mystery and foreboding.

Third Panel: The mouse driver’s face is shown in a close-up, their expression one of wide-eyed shock or concern as they watch the hooded figure. The framing emphasizes the mouse's emotional reaction.

Bottom Panel: The hooded figure is now stationary, holding their sign down. The reverse side of the sign is revealed, reading, "Need a couple bucks for food. God bless." Their stance and demeanor suggest weariness or resignation.

The page creates a striking contrast between the dramatic proclamation on one side of the sign and the mundane, desperate plea on the other, blending social commentary with visual tension. This comic page consists of four panels, blending a dark narrative tone with a retro cartoon aesthetic.

Top Left Panel: A mouse character, wearing a cap, is shown mopping the floor in what appears to be a mundane, institutional setting. A framed picture of a dog hangs on the wall, hinting at a theme of control or confinement. The narration reads: "The beauty is that a sick dog doesn’t have to be put in a cage."

Top Right Panel: A large dog character, exaggeratedly cheerful, licks an ice cream cone. The narration continues: "...taking up air, space, and sympathy," juxtaposing the carefree dog with a biting commentary on complacency or dependency.

Bottom Left Panel: A dramatic close-up of the dog’s face, wide-eyed and tongue out, conveys a mix of panic and vulnerability. The narration reads: "’Til one day he just up and dies of his own volition," underscoring a grim inevitability.

Bottom Right Panel: The scene shifts to a silhouette of the dog, possibly as a poster or advertisement, displayed in a window. A cheerful character, holding a sign that reads "Scream for Ice Cream," sits in front, seemingly oblivious to the dark undertone. The final narration states: "Guess that’s what they call freedom," offering a stark, cynical reflection.

This page delivers a sharp critique, using the contrast between the upbeat imagery and the grim narration to provoke thought on themes of control, agency, and resignation. This comic page has a somber and reflective tone, with three main narrative elements.

Top Left Section: The narration begins with the line, “But the sick dog can also be rabid. Now that’s a disease with a little agency.” This sets the stage for a shift in tone, contrasting passive illness with something more active and destructive. In the foreground, a cheerful monkey-like character, dressed in a hoodie with an ice cream cone logo, waves a sign that reads “I SCREAM.” They seem oblivious to the dark undertones of the narration.

Middle Section: The narration continues: “A rabid dog infects others with his poison.” The background reveals a chilling detail—a lifeless dog-like figure inside a medical or industrial-looking chamber, possibly a crematorium or incinerator. This grim visual reinforces the idea of systemic decay and destruction.

Bottom Section: The final narration reads: “He rages through his internal chains and he bites hands that feed him... because in this world any hand that tries to feed you for free is only trying to give you medicine.” The words critique the illusion of freedom and kindness, tying together the imagery of systemic control and rebellion with a harsh commentary on societal power structures.

The page juxtaposes an upbeat visual character with disturbing background details and a cynical narrative, creating a thought-provoking commentary on agency, control, and the nature of freedom. This comic page has a biting, satirical tone with sharp visual storytelling and commentary.

Top Left Panel: A close-up of a mouse character’s mouth delivers an emphatic dialogue: “Medicine to pacify you!” The panel conveys anger or disdain, setting the stage for a critique of societal control disguised as compassion.

Middle Left Panel: The mouse character holds a book titled "Plaything," featuring a silhouette of a provocative figure on the cover. The narration continues, “To turn you into that pitiful dying lump in the gutter,” implying manipulation or exploitation disguised as care.

Middle Right Panel: A zoomed-in view of a thumb with a noticeable sore or wound. A speech bubble questions angrily, “Is that what compassion is, Jay?!?” The injury adds to the tension, possibly symbolizing harm inflicted by a system pretending to help.

Bottom Panel: A large capsule labeled "Hardonlapin (cyanide)" dominates the frame, accompanied by fine print, likely mimicking a pharmaceutical ad disclaimer. Below, the mouse character’s shocked expression while reading the book reinforces the grim realization of false promises. The narration concludes: “Seems to me that compassion never was,” delivering a chilling critique of toxic compassion masked as assistance.

This page combines sharp dialogue with visually striking elements to explore themes of manipulation, disillusionment, and the darker side of societal systems.
