War is target fixation. War is concrete cicatrix. War is an unbanishable ghost. Hookland knows this. It pillboxes remain manifestations of invasion fears. The abandoned sound mirrors of its salt marshes still listen out for phantom planes. There is no psychic peace. – #DAKilory

this is also why i'm concerned about the bipedal robot trend. it's not really a practical design, now everything you want it to do is harder because it has to stay upright. but futurists are adamant that it has to be bipedal because it should feel like owning a person.

Spent some time this morning drawing a raven. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
Art. Black and white drawing made of abstract shapes and lines showing a raven or crow in flight. It's wing is above it, caught mid-flap, and it's feet trail beneath it. It's eye is fixed ahead, looking at the horizon and the future.

London’s thrilling underground network, 1961. “Visitors are always fascinated by the escalators, the brightly-lit stations, and the rush of the trains from the dark tunnels”. Artist: Robert Ayton (1961)
Passengers wait on a platform for a train that is approaching around an unlikely bend in the tracks. Some of the passengers are dressed formally with suits and bowler hats and some are looking very groovy.

A cat poster done in the style of a mid-20th-century communist propaganda poster. A line of three cat faces face left in unison. Below them is a large crowd of cats marching. They represent various kinds of cats, ages, and jobs. The background is a large red flag. Text at bottom reads: The purrletarians have nothing to lose but their collars. They have a world to win. This image from No Surrender graphic novel expresses a view from 1910 that is still widely held today. It ignores the structural inequalities that steer women and girls into the jaws of the criminal justice system: poverty, abuse, homelessness and mental ill-health
A panel from the graphic novel of Constance Maud’s No Surrender, a story of women’s suffrage. In it, a prison chaplain smugly pontificates, “Experience has taught me that women who are sent to prison are invariably bad.”

Laurence Taylor, the national head of counterterrorism, said on Tuesday night: “Those vehicles have been subject to extensive examination, with the support of military assets and forensic experts, and we can confirm that no improvised explosive devices were found. However, a quantity of petrol was recovered.”
