If your employer uses Lyra Health for its EAP, please read the fine print. Recordings of sessions are the default, and while coaches and therapists will ask you if you want to continue recording, they will not tell you that a transcript of your session will be used to train AI.

I recently agreed to review an article based, as is typical, on the abstract. On receiving the whole thing I see that the article is a revised version of an earlier paper that used AI to analyse historical records. The revised version claims not to use AI (in response to first reviewer concerns) and

Isn’t this terrorism? When this kind of thing happened in Northern Ireland it was terrorism. If someone protests about an issue, that’s their democratic right. But wearing masks and blocking roads is terrifying members of the community, so isn’t that an act of terror?

Another fascinating day at the British Crime Historians symposium, but the highlight was undoubtedly @louisebrangan.bsky.social's keynote on memories of the Magdalene laundries. Such a nuanced and sensitive exploration of how the laundries have been remembered and misremembered through time.

The harassment that starts in high schools never ends there. It is very common to see new tech find its sexist footing in high school—especially if parents and school staff react with “boys will be boys.” And that normalizes their behavior for adult men too.
