TRUMP TODAY: "She wasn't a member of my family. She I guess dated my son a long time ago" TRUMP NOT EVEN 2 YEARS AGO: "Kimberly has been a close friend and ally"
Avatar
Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

Today, I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Kimberly Guilfoyle as the United States Ambassador to Greece. For many years, Kimberly has been a close friend and ally. Her extensive experience and leadership in law, media, and politics along with her sharp intellect make her supremely qualified to represent the United States, and safeguard its interests abroad.

Kimberly is perfectly suited to foster strong bilateral relations with Greece, advancing our interests on issues ranging from defense cooperation to trade and economic innovation.

Congratulations Kimberly!

Suella Braverman on the Today programme adopting Reform’s latest wheeze about the nonexistent “uniparty”. Just watch - if Farage loses ground to Binface it will be because of this latest conspiracy, not because he misjudged his move spectacularly.

Reform have now lost six by-elections in a row in England, Scotland and Wales. Their national poll rating is 26% – below Labour in 1983 – and Farage’s approval rating is -37. They’re very far from the voice of the people and need to stop being treated as such.

The joy today is that hatred lost. Doesn't matter what you think of Burnham. Farage tried to invite a race riot. He dealt in explicitly racial rhetoric. If he'd won, many journalists would have considered it a vindication of his approach and branded our outrage evidence of how out of touch we are.

Goodwin: "I'm not an expert in Tom Stoppard. But to go back to Sunak. I think Rishi Sunak himself - or say Suella Braverman - they may describe themselves as British Asian or British Hindu, but may say "I am not entirely sure I fit a definition of English". But Sunak certainly does not say that.
Rishi Sunak says he's English and proud - and brands debate over his identity "ridiculous".

The ex-PM says: "Of course I'm English. Born here, brought up here."

He references the "Tebbit test" - a phrase coined in 1990 about which cricket team first/ second generation migrants support as a measure of intergration.

Sunak disagrees with Suella Braverman, who argued Englishness is based on ancestry, heritage, ethnicity.

He tells
@bbcnickrobinson
: "It struck me that this debate, it moves well beyond [the Tebbit Test]. Because it’s not enough just to support England at cricket, it turns out it may not be enough to even play for England in cricket or football. You still can’t be English.

"You look at the composition of our England cricket team/ England football team on this definition, you can’t be English even playing for England, let alone supporting them.

"So yes, I found the whole thing slightly ridiculous. Of course I’m English."

If Starmer does a reshuffle after the local elections it'll be an admission that he's given up on even the pretence of effective government. An awful time to shuffle the pack again and reset everyone's specialist knowledge to zero, just as they're getting a handle on their department.
