Archer’s resignation from the London mayoral race after it was revealed he lied in court was the thing that got Paul Foot up from his sickbed and contributing again, having first started chronicling Archer’s lies and misdemeanours in 1969. From the Private Eye archive. Issue 992, December 1999.

Apologies to any Jilly Cooper fans out there. Not in the same league of awfulness, just not to my taste. But I maintain no-one over the age of 5 should be happy being known as 'Jilly' (ex-friends have tried it 😆)

I think the caption to my photo from 2012 (while tidying my parents' book collection) sums up my views. It's entirely legitimate to speak ill of his literary output.

My mum had a 'too close to pay day' meal called Cheese Bean Bake, which we'd have on a Monday. Mashed potato, tin of beans, leftover meat from Sunday roast, chopped onion, dash of Lea & Perrins, all stirred in together, topped with cheese and baked for 30 mins. To this day, still my comfort meal.

Yes, dodgy immigration practitioners exist and some people do lie on asylum claims. Based on BBC reporting though, people"d think it was far more widespread than it is, and completely fail to grasp how hard it can be to get asylum based on being LGBTQIA+ alone. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

For example, here is Tony Blair lecturing the self-indulgent western left for failing to help millions of Palestinians, from his position on Donald Trump’s panel established specifically to facilitate and finessetheir destruction as a people.
When misguided or malevolently guided activists in Western countries campaign for Zionism to be delegitimized, they do more than cause affront to Israel and to the Jewish community across the world. They harm the Palestinian cause-the very cause they say they support.
Palestinians know Israel will continue to exist. They know that if there were a one-state solution how unlikely it would be that such a state would be Palestinian. What's more, resolutions like the one just passed by the Greens simply provide fodder for those on the far right in Israel, who also believe that Palestinians and Israelis can never live in peace.
