Again: AI is a technology but it's also an ideology; that ideology is Bossism; neither bosses nor AI advocates really understand what most people do in their jobs so both assume AI can do it. They're *trying* but if these tools could replace jobs beyond Junior Software Developer, we'd know.

The main reason you haven’t heard about campus sexual violence in a few years is because Trump and SCOTUS have made it much, much harder for survivors to come forward. You might vaguely remember that Title IX was a big battleground in his first term. And that we lost.

I also think a lot of people think that their job is the white collar job. They don’t understand that this includes everything from healthcare to teaching. They think a very specific engine engineering or coding-Heavy job is the white collar job.

And I cannot say this part enough — AI agents aren’t fun. Maybe some of the LLM/chatbot experience captured affect. But an existential crisis about your social relations and how hard your life is so you can solve .0001% of a problem task at about 60-70% accurate, if you’re lucky, isn’t fun.

What this looked like in practice: People came to the class excited or at least mildly interested in learning what an ai agent could do for them. The trainers came to help people train an agent for their known specific cases. Everyone quickly realized that there wasn’t much middle ground.

There's a very famous sketch about an Alexa controlled elevator in Scotland and the vocal contortions folks need to use to get it to work. AI is forcing conformity on more than just the accents though. Structure and syntax must fit its parameters. It forces homogenization.

Amen. The most broadly useful cases seem to be "here's a lot of organized, human-vetted data from which you can make decisions." The hurdle in every case *I'd* use it for is the vetting. And by the time I've checked everything, I barely need it organized, b/c I was decision-making while doing so.

This is a good example. It assumes that the person can afford the price of whatever shop is available, for one thing. It also misunderstands that finding someone to work on your car is, for a lot of people, a social relation as much an economic one.
