I think that it's been made very clear that despite efforts being made by the latter group, a TON of issues have happened that have been harmful on an individual level as well as a movement level (for Al safety AS WELL AS cnc orgy/slutcon/bay area poly/edgy sex community perception in general)
There's a tide of demand for policing behavior because the consequences of the group themselves not being able to reliably do so has been so problematic.
I think there's a justifiable fear of inviting/accepting policing for policing's sake, but I think you're disregarding a lot of genuine criticism from people who care about your causes. nitter.miningtcup.me/artbypep/status/210390...

I think Slutcon is more like a nucleation point for a lot of folks discomfort at how poly/cnc orgy culture (which is tied optically to you for reasonable reasons) seems to be the dominant Lighthaven culture and Slutcon is the most magnified form of that for people to have a visceral reaction to.
