I always have mixed feelings about these images. Yes, it's inspiring to see these college students committed to democracy, but the fact that they have to do anything remotely difficult to exercise their voting rights is enraging. Taking part in a democracy should be as easy as possible.

They started on illegal immigrants, expanded it to legal immigrants, now are going after naturalized citizens. If you are not one of those groups, you are just somewhere further down the chain, but they will get to eliminating your rights eventually too.

back in the olden days DOJ would investigate a particular crime it believed had been committed, rather than just poking around to see if anything was wrong
The investigation is seeking information to see where it leads, the source said. For example, if records, representations related to age and immigration status contain false information, that would provide material for investigators to scrutinize further. They could also examine communications related to such matters.

12/ We spent months compiling every case we could find of immigration agents detaining Americans. We did it because the government hasn't. And now, we're sharing every one of those cases with you. Explore our database: propub.li/4egbSK2
Screenshot of database titled "Explore All Incidents Where Citizens Were Detained." Text below explains that this is every incident ProPublica could find in which one or more citizens were reportedly detained between January 2025 and September 2026. There are 506 citizens' cases in the database, and users can sort by what the incidents involve, where the incident is located, and the recency of the case.

The government *still* isn’t tracking how often immigration agents detain U.S. citizens. We are. 500+ Americans have been handcuffed, held at gunpoint or held against their will in Trump’s second term. Our tally is almost certainly an undercount. THREAD (content warning: violence) ⬇️

one of the ways the media shows which side they prefer, is which politicians they quote uncharitably out-of-context and which they clean up for even when what they actually say and do is offensive (the Biden story ran on the front page less than a week before the 24 election)

You can really see the different phases of the war play out in this radar imagery. These first two show the damage from the most intense bombing, before ground forces entered Gaza, when the IDF was announcing the destruction of “power targets” and sometimes dropping more than 1,000 bombs in a day.

That critique harmonizes with the fact that cities also carry the failures of their surrounding suburbs to help fund critical infrastructure like light rail routes, or, say, low-income housing because both would bring "those people." Then complain about potholes & homeless people in cities.

And for an 80-something, Markey was well-positioned. Unlike biden, he speaks clearly and walks confidently. He's been a strong supporter of Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and other left-wing policies, so progressives love him. including younger ones. Markey, not Moulton, was backed by Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, and numerous other younger Democratic politicians.

Markey took full advantage of Moulton's transgender remarks, painting himself as the defender of LGBTQ+ community and other groups that often face discrimination.

. @daralind.bsky.social makes her debut in @newyorker.com explaining how Trump is stripping legal status from hardworking immigrants who have nowhere safe to go. www.newyorker.com/news/the-led...
Text from the New Yorker (online):

“These are people who had official documentation allowing them to work, and live, in the U.S. But their status in the United States was always subject to the discretion of the executive branch. The Trump Administration has exploited such ambiguities over and over again. Since January, 2025, the White House has stripped more than a million people of T.P.S. and similar protections. Call it the Great Delegalization.

People with Temporary Protected Status were never, precisely, safe. Instead, they lived in the chasm between most Americans’ assumptions about immigration status and what the law actually requires. T.P.S. status provides no legal mechanism to apply for a green card, or any other immigration status. Instead, people have had to spend time and money just to remain in place. “

Not only that, but approximately 1 out of 6 men will experience abuse in their lifetime, too. Men are exponentially more likely to be victimized than to face false allegations, yet it’s viewed as in their best interests to undermine victim credibility.
