I spent a good chunk of today crying after a long overdue medical procedure because how bad it invokes past trauma, and I'm seriously thinking about temporarily taking a break from all but the most necessary social interactions. This includes temporarily stepping back from leadership roles.

I've been trying to hide it and failing to, but I've been under significant pressure the past month at work and dealing with some physical and mental health issues, and I've basically had multiple people warn me in the last couple of days that I'm being overly rude and critical.

How many kids are going to die because they were in my position of suffering multiple forms of abuse by their family and have no way of getting support for what they're going through? No way of knowing who they are or having terms to describe themselves. These internet bills are going to kill kids

For my money, real trauma recovery is all about radical self compassion wrapped around radical accountability. Survivors who construct a sustainable recovery are not pretending we "chose" trauma-- nor are we pretending we have zero responsibility for how we feel & function now.
