final panel shows nancy looking behind the bushes but the text from r crumbs "lookit that stupid ass-hole!" meme panel placed atop it so that nancy is looking in disgust at sluggo saying
"I loathe ever person i see on the street! Lookit that stupid ass-hole!"
with text saying "normal guy" pointing at sluggo.
the whistling from the original panel has been removed and the whistling from the r crumb panel has been placed there instead.

O...
In this era of artificial intelligence, it is becoming urgent to distinguish human art from what machines produce. There is an ontological difference, even before an aesthetic one, between art and what a machine can generate through statistical calculation based on millions of images created by others. Algorithms lack the spark of humanity. For this reason, the Church wishes to renew an alliance with artists and cultural institutions to safeguard our humanity.

What I think people need to take from JD is that he and others see the future of the party as a viciously, overtly racist Christian nationalist party and they are laying the groundwork to be successful in that future while Democratic consultants are stuck in the 90s.

the editor of The Needle came to my attention last year when she was boosting 'transsexual vs transgender' discourse and running pieces on 'AFAB Aesthetics.' I've long felt that her work stokes pointless, inflammatory intra-community divides in order to punish her perceived enemies

I believe the death penalty is cruel and unusual punishment in all circumstances but the absurd joke of "lethal injection" is even more cruel and unusual than the others. A violent fiction to fool bystanders into thinking that they are witnessing a humane execution. www.nytimes.com/2026/09/30/u...

if you read enough biographies of jazzmen they’ll start dropping incredible names of guys they toured with
My biggest back then was a guy named Rastus Crump who was with Thomas's quintet. He was a small little manBy the first week in November, we came back into New York and went into the Lafeyette Theatre for the second time that year. The stage show that we were a part of was called Music and Laughter, and the headline singer was Alice Harris, who was very well known in vaudeville, and the other star was Garbage Rogers, a top comedian from Chicago. He was a very funny guy. We liked one of his skits so much that we stole it and tried to use it later on.
Old Garbage used to come onstage in a full-dress outfit, top hat, cane, gloves, and everything.

George Saunders on using AI: "Writing is the most precious way one person can communicate their essence to another person. I’ve spent a lifetime trying to get better at making myself present in my writing. Why would I want to sacrifice even one iota of that?"
Have you spent time trying to write or revise with AI? Is there an experiment that would be interesting enough to try?

I have not. Not for a second. To me, this whole idea of using AI to write is . . . anathema. A thing to be most radically avoided.

Writing is the most precious way one person can communicate their essence to another person. I’ve spent a lifetime trying to get better at making myself present in my writing. Why would I want to sacrifice even one iota of that? Not even in an email and certainly not in a short story or novel.Who are we ceding our authority to, exactly, when we let AI write for us? And why? Why surrender our agency (that amazing ability we have to reach across time and space, with our strange, idiosyncratic phenomenon, and land within the sensibility of another human being) to something that, by its very design, pushes the individual sensibility aside? And in the name of . . . what, exactly? Ease, I guess? Efficiency? The person who chooses to write with AI has also sacrificed, from the start, the opportunity of experiencing difficulty, of struggling to say what he wants to say, of making himself evident in his prose, of trying to find out what he believes. By this, he sacrifices a chance to know himself and his mind better. To me, that’s a shame. And it’s dangerous, because, as we are now finding out, it affects the brain and lessens our capabilities. Thanks, but no thanks, get thee behind me, etc.

this novel came up in research I was doing on gay history in US libraries. originally published as 'A Place For Us', it won a 1971 'Gay Book Award' from ALA's 'Task Force on Gay Liberation.' in fact it was written by task force member Alma Routsong under a pen name ('Isabel' an anagram for 'Lesbia')
