Naur (1985) was right about the theory building view of programming. So, by definition, vibe coded programs are dead on arrival: no one possesses the theory of the program. The programmer needs to revive the program with each generated chunk of code or forever be codependent with the LLM.

great HN comment on why vibe coding is not like programming in a higher level language: “Once you learned the higher level language the machine did precisely what you specified and you did not have to inspect the assembly language to make sure it was compliant.”

a baby African pygmy falcon. it basically looks like a chicken nugget covered in white fluff, with pink legs sticking out from under it. its face is mostly beak, and it has big beady eyes. one of its feet is partially resting on a US quarter and only covering the tiniest fraction of the quarter's surface. it is a very smol pathetic fluff ball

it looks like it's realized it is the year of our lord 2025, and is currently somewhere in the "depression" area of the 5 stages of grief

Please stop sharing "acceptable ways" to use Synthetic Users as a stand in for research. There aren't any. It's a very convincing simulation of behavior based on a large random unstructured data set containing what has been written about human behavior, not analysis of actual behavior in context.

Ok, quick thread on why DeepSeek is blowing up assumptions about LLMs and maybe the whole (U.S.) AI industry. DeepSeek is an AI lab funded by a Chinese hedge fund, their AI code is open source, meaning freely available to use, which most big U.S. models (aside from Meta’s) are not. That’s the start…

And it's devastating to think of how much knowledge we'll lose going forward.

I’m not sure people quite grasp how much of the crypto world is reacting to the Trump memecoin launches.
Trump dropping his own memecoin means he has the wrong people in his ear re crypto policy.

I’m now getting very concerned about the Trump presidency.

Something that hasn’t been much discussed - creating a bunch of personal memecoins opens the door to secretive foreign buyers trying to curry influence with our leaders. If you hated hunter biden’s anonymous art sales, you should hate this too.
nic carter

@nic__carter
Basically, we used to have an informal rule that presidents wouldn’t start or run businesses that could pose a conflict of interest. Creating a bunch of memecoins and defi protocols opens the possibility to rampant violations of the emoluments clause. Not to mention the obvious COI given the fact that trump can set crypto policy.
