MariOSR, I assume, wants low-level, high-lethality dungeon runs, with a few power-ups, a lot of treasure, and frequent dragon encounters. WariOSR is all about the mini-games and sub-systems. the hallmark of orcfic is that even when it makes a token effort to be "nuanced," it's still centered on the non-orcs, still primarily about people whose jobs are to kill orcs. it can ask you to sympathize and say, "well, there might be good orcs sometimes," and then continue to be orcfic afterwards

orcfic can be set in a world with castles and dragons, or it can be set in a world with spaceships and laser guns, or it can be set in a world with urban landscapes and cybernetics. the orcs can be aliens, or they can be mutants, or they can be "gang members," or they can be orcs. it's all orcfic.

my stance on fantasy vs sci-fi is that i think these are aesthetic labels that have gotten so broad that they're barely informative at all. the real slop genre is orc fiction. if there's an archetypal "orc species," a nuance-free inherently evil group of morally uncomplicated enemies, it's slop.

You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.
