As an expert on sexual violence, I have to add that these ethical violations are a nightmare for interviews on sensitive subjects. I would never recommend ANY survivor goes public with their story at an outlet that would do this to them.

And think for a minute about what that means for survivors like Jane Doe who had to leave school because of the hostility she faced for coming forward. She likely lost every source of institutional stability in her life. She had to entirely start over—and absorb every loss that came from that.

The Trump Administration says this could save $2.2 billion a year. For context, the Congressional Budget Office recently estimated that US military operations in Iran have cost $38 billion as of August 1, 2026. The Trump Administration doesn’t care about the 💰. This is just about power & cruelty.

One of the weirder trends in Big Tech’s AI obsession is the idea that expertise is becoming less valuable. Imagine two arguments: 1. AI enables radiologists to review more scans. 2. AI enables anyone to be a radiologist. “Everyone is a builder” increasingly sounds like Big Tech embraced #2.

I’ve been in aid, am currently unemployed because the sector has essentially collapsed, and know a ton of people who are still clinging on in aid - I really cannot express in words the scale of the human suffering that Musk destroying USAID has unleashed. So yes, I have some strong opinions on that.
