CDC has confirmed 3,471 measles cases in the U.S. this year, the most since 1991. Current epicenter: Pennsylvania. Measles was declared eliminated in 2000. Complications can include blindness, encephalitis, ear infections, severe pneumonia, and death. 2 doses of the MMR vaccine are ~97% effective.
