This late Cuckoo has been at Low Newton for the last few days. A fearless juvenile, more concerned with finding caterpillars than the people stood nearby watching it. At one point it landed right at my feet to pluck a caterpillar out of the grass, amazing ! #NEbirding #Lowcarbonbirding

Does anyone happen to recognise this white fungus on the underside of Bramble (Rubus fruiticosus agg.) leaves? I've not been able to find any particularly helpful structures, but wondered if it was a mycoparasite on one of the Rubus rusts?

Quite emotional to report that we've just found our amazing survivor Marsh Tit, still here in his ancient woodland kingdom. He's now 11 yrs 4 months old, survived the 2026 heatwaves/drought and smelt the wildfires of nearby Holme Fen. I ringed him in my 30s and I'm now in my 50s.

12 Great Yellow Bumblebees recorded in 1 hour on the machair at Hough, Tiree on Sunday (13th) was the rather late peak count of the year here. Almost all were males (some very bleached) in a mixed summer for them due to prolonged wet spells after a promising start @bumblebeetrust.bsky.social

This black dragonfish (Idiacanthus sp.) was spotted at 527 meters (1,729 feet) in Monterey Bay. Black dragonfish are built for life in the darkness of the deep ocean. Their ultra-black skin helps them stay camouflaged from prey like fishes and crustaceans. 🐉🖤⁠
