I can't express how surreal and dismaying it is that whether people like me are allowed to participate in society or not is this huge abstract political issue, while the actual *lives* of people like me have never mattered less We don't matter *so much* our existence is an automatic moral panic

It's what explains why Musk runs roughshod over environmental or consumer-safety laws, and Meta thumbs its nose at corporate-tax laws: experience has taught them to expect no punishment. It's elite impunity in practice: when you're a star, they let you do it.

The most crushing thing about M.E.: People pretend that my life isn't basically over. That I'm not just waiting to be buried. I can't do any of the things I used to. I struggle to do basic self care or breath. But they pretend I'm okay... It's like the sky changed colour and no one noticed but me

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

lately ive noticed politics take a sharp turn into using hope *as* whats being sold on its own, and its not how hope works, like people are meant to be given hope by actually being helped and having their lives changed, but we're being sold "the idea that things may get better" by politicians

I really wish our governments would stop making life harder. I'm more than half dead (EQ-5D-3L) but it's time to - send trans women to men's prisons - kick 160-260,000 people off the NDIS - and take away 1/3 of the remaining NDIS budgets (combined that's the biggest cut in government history)

tumblr is having a great one about this, little masterpiece of a post I'd say
first post reads: Pro-censorship wattpad refugees drama is so funny to me because when I started using ao3 as a kid I was a devout mormon and I thought that reading anything even remotely pornagraphic was a sin and would ruin my life. So when I was 13 and found ao3 I went "oh awesome I found a fanfic website with a filtering system so I won't ever randomly stumble into porn. This is great! I was really worried about seeing something I didn't want to see on the other platforms." I didn't read any smut online until like three years later. If a mormon 13 year old can figure out 'don't like don't read' wattpad users can too cmon you guys i believe in you.
reblog reads: "you're less internet savy than a 13 year old mormon" is a diabolical thing to say to someone, I support it

A dark day for human rights.
four frame comic. first frame shows the logo of amnesty international. second frame shows jk rowling, smiling in the dark. third frame shows an empty classroom, with a pride poster almost falling from the wall. fourth frame shows a trans flag flying in the wind. text above all the images reads :
on july 8th, amnesty Inter-
national uk published a report
titled “A Growing Threat: The
Anti-Rights Movement in the UK.”
it listed 117 orgs, including anti-
trans and anti-queer ones
backed by jk rowling.
the backlash was immediate
and brutal : rowling pledged
to cover the fees of anyone
who wished to sue amnesty.
the report was taken down
within 48 hours.
this morning (july 31st), amnesty
fully capitulated and released
an apology to anti-trans orgs,
which, it said, should not have
been "collectively labelled as
anti-rights". rowling
celebrated.
an organisation that
bravely faced fascist regimes
and reported human rights
violations for 65 years has caved
to rowling's power and bigotry.
it's a dark day for human rights.
