One thing about Dolly’s Imagination Library that I haven’t seen highlighted is how inclusive the books are. They feature stories about families from different ethnic backgrounds. Many of them are written in both english and spanish. They celebrate differences. What a legacy ❤️ 📖

This is a setup for obscuring the impact of the political review of grants, which is fixing to be massive. It also greases the skids for corruption and funneling money away from universities and toward venture capitalists. Please vote this November, friends. It’s bad out here.

A wee explainer on why the NIH hiding impact scores and percentages from peer review of grants: 1. Spend 6 months writing proposal 2. Submit to NIH 3. Peers review it, give it a score, and it’s ranked by percentile—the lower, the better 4. If you’re in the 1st percentile you can expect funds

Just so it’s clear: putting Dr. Fauci in the spotlight for this humiliation ritual wasn’t a long time coming. It’s a distraction from the ongoing foodborne illness outbreakS (plural) that illustrate current failures of their public health policies. Stop 👏 taking 👏 the bait 👏

I feel like a bare minimum criteria for Primate Leadership should be Understanding How Bananas Work. Like, on one hand, of course we’re not going to ask you, ‘Do you understand how bananas work?’ We will just assume you do. BUT! If you demonstrate inability to clear that hurdle you must resign.

Funny story… Setting up our lab meeting schedule is tricky for a few reasons. The process we finally found is that i create a draft schedule and we edit it as a group, it takes about 10 minutes. One student tried to get AI to make the schedule and it failed spectacularly. At making a schedule.

One fun pregnancy symptom is rhinitis due to increased blood flow at mucus membranes. Meaning I’m already congested, and it makes it hard to sleep. And my body already aches. And I’m already tired AF. I don’t want so much as a common cold to make that worse. Better believe I’m in a N95 on flights.
