Someone said to me that it’s fine because it’s not so different from drug/steroid testing in which athletes have to pee in a cup in front of someone and I didn’t even have the words to respond. All i know is I’m gonna need bail money if anyone “inspects” my kids.

It’s just… so on par 🙄 When I was president of UNC’s Science Policy Advocacy Group, we were in the running for a new chapter of a AAAS program. Duke caught wind of it & overnight generated hundreds of votes, that can only have been artificial/inflated. We ended up with a “joint” chapter.

Twin A was an escape artist, best we could so was give her a nice snug wrap around her tummy. Twin B had a love/hate relationship with full body swaddling that we eventually resolved with the “swaddle up”… which us stooooopidly expensive but we bought 2 because it got goober to sleep 😂

This feels connected to a prediction I heard about all the gerrymandering… since the right gave themselves razor thin margins to maximize their number of districts, there’s a real possibility that the growing number of pissed off conservatives could turn a bunch of those districts blue. 👀

Yay for endorphins! Broke my foot 2 Novembers ago, and not being able to exercise for a year led me further into burnout than I would have thought possible… zero outlet for the job stress, s#!% got dark 😳 I never knew till then how important my pathetically slow 5Ks were to my mental health.

Indirect costs aren’t “skimming” or “kickbacks”. They go towards keeping the *literal* lights on in research facilities. If individual labs had to coordinate these jobs and pay those fees directly, it would cost several times more and leave no time for the research. 10/11

Y’all, I’m on a first name basis with Greg from facilities management. He’s there for everything from unjamming the lock on my office door to making sure electrical circuits in our lab space don’t short when we plug in new equipment. We rely on Greg, but I don’t pay his salary… directly. 8/11
