more than that, if "the country is in mortal danger" is your pitch then you should be largely indifferent to how it's paid for, should you not? I mean, not much point keeping Inheritance tax low if the Russians are going to invade and take all your stuff anyway!

Now, I'm sure the military (and their retired friends) are naturally going to take a view on the resources required to defend the country but how that's paid for is actually none of their fucking business, is it?

The scene on the pavement outside Parliament encapsulated the fiasco. On 15 July, MPs arriving for the ritual of Prime Minister’s Questions were greeted by an enterprising young businessman bearing two large cases filled with the American edition of Spycatcher. Michael Marvin had flown to New York the previous day, bought 140 copies for a cool $3,000 and, after landing back at Heathrow in the early hours, was not hawking them openly next to the Palace of Westminster for £100 each.

(4)If Suella Braverman is Reform's spokesman for equality and keeps saying "Of course I'm not English " on telly , is it any surprise Reform Councillors are filmed saying they think that 'at most 1% of the Country' should be 'non-White' ?

This is an incredibly bad idea. We should never use photosynthesis for any sort if energy. It's 3% efficient. Solar panels are 25% efficient. Put panels on ONE EIGHTH of the land and rewild the rest.

This is an outrageous slur by Adam Boulton on Sally Rooney and Irish people. Our support for Palestine is rooted in solidarity, anti-colonialism, anti-racism, and of course simply being against apartheid Israel's genocide. Let's hope Sally Rooney has called her lawyers.

once again reminded how the designer of the furby sincerely believes they are alive radiolab.org/podcast/more...
CALEB CHUNG: Well, I have to ask you, when is something alive? Furby can remember these events, they affect what he does going forward, and it changes his personality over time. He has all the attributes of fear or of happiness, and those are things that add up and change and change his behavior and how he interacts with the world. So how is that different than us?

JAD: Wait a second, though. Are you really gonna go all the way there?

CALEB CHUNG: Absolutely.

JAD: This is a toy with servo motors and things that move its eyelids and a hundred words.

CALEB CHUNG: So you're saying that life is a level of complexity. If something is alive, it's just more complex.

JAD: I think I'm saying that life is driven by the need to be alive, and by these base primal animal feelings like pain and suffering.

CALEB CHUNG: I can code that. I can code that.

Starmer should never be allowed to escape the shame of proscribing Palestine Action. The "decent" man jailed pensioners and betrayed the left of his party to whore himself, and the country, to Israel. The anti-Irish bullshit being stirred up around Sally Rooney now, is on him too. Gobshite.
