Vaccines don’t cause autism. But vaccines can help prevent it. This study found an increase in autism rates among babies born with rubella, who were infected by their moms during pregnancy. Vaccinating against rubella with the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) prevents infection.

Dammit, the Moon is doing a spectacular thing and as usual, it will not fit in my camera at all.

View over tan plains with cholla and distant blue mountains. The sky is blue but pink where the Belt of Venus hits. The moon is vanishing into clouds that cannot be seen as anything but the same shade of blue, and thus looks like a lidded eye.

It was such a treat to find these gorgeous little green cup mushrooms in the forest this morning. Usually all I can ever find is the bright turquoise mycelia in the rotting wood. Finding the thumbnail size fruiting bodies is pretty rare for me. Their colour is unreal. 🍄🌿

Truly the calmest conditions I’ve ever seen out in the Gulf of Maine today. I spent several hours on deck watching for wildlife, and it was active! We had huge groups of great shearwaters soaring off the back deck for most of the day, plus some Wilson’s storm-petrel and northern fulmar sightings 🌿🪶🦑
