World’s weirdest gripe: if you set up Apple Home, there are default scenes “good morning” and “good night.” Siri used to say “good morning” in a cheerful tone, but they changed it to pure business. “Good night” is still cheery. I want my cheery good morning back.

There’s been a regression in the Bluesky app on iPad, running iOS 27. Now it seems like any time I tap on a post to view a thread I get reset back to the top when I back out to the main feed.

It’s disturbing how accurate this is. When I moved to America as a kid I had a British accent. I spent about 6 months in Seattle and then moved down to Palo Alto (between San Francisco and Los Angeles). By the end of a year I didn’t have a British accent anymore. It nailed me.

So I did my first Develop: Brighton, and I'm realizing I took zero pictures of the sites around Brighton, or any of the people I met, but I have hundreds of pictures of powerpoint presentations. 🤦‍♂️ Ah well. Getting down to Brighton is easy from Horsham, so I can do the touristy stuff another day.

I’ve been working on an app, but got deep into the weeds about trying to simulate sunbeams and shadows in XR. I think we underestimate the importance of occlusion, lighting and shadows in mixed reality Meta Quest apps.
