This is institutionalized racism that targeted an entire family in order to keep them from attempting to live productive, fulfilling, and successful lives. THIS is the system trying to keep Black people down. If Crystal had been a white woman, this case would've been thrown out.
Because Mason was convicted of a criminal offense while on supervised release, she returned to federal prison for 10 months. During that period, she nearly lost her home to foreclosure and her teenage daughter was entrusted with running her household. This point, from my recent interview with @perrybaconjr.bsky.social for TNR, is so crucial. Trans people are desperate for relief from the relentless Republican attacks impacting all of us. When Democrats move right, they signal relief may not be coming, and that engenders a lot of despair.
And so for Democrats to say, They have a point on some of this, it is engendering a lot of hopelessness and a lot of fear in the trans community, because we have been just trying to hold on, hoping that this time would end and we would be able to get back to where we were five years, six years ago. And what Democrats are signaling is, like, No, we’re going to keep things as they are, and maybe even make them worse.

Joseph Kutzko was accused of punching and threatening his then-15-year-old child at the family home on Jan. 28, 2025, records from Westborough District Court show. A Southborough police detective wrote that Kutzko punched the victim in the shoulder and pulled them by their hair. Kutzko later allegedly threatened to kill the victim “for not singing in tune during a birthday celebration,” according to court records.

Kutzko was arrested the next day and pleaded not guilty. In setting bail, the judge referred to three prior restraining orders against Kutzko, one of which is permanent. She did not say whether any are tied to this case.

The child’s mother, Arlene Kutzko, was charged with witness intimidation after allegedly pressuring the child to “tell the school that she was exaggerating and being stupid.”

“Arlene stated that if you solve this tomorrow everything will be okay and we will not get angry,” the detective wrote.

I didn't hold back. These centers are a blight on higher education and we should say so. dailyiowan.com/2026/09/15/u...
“Center for Intellectual Freedom is a really Orwellian name because they’re forcing mandatory classes on students who don’t want it,” Ray said. “Just as a matter of pure consistency, if closing African American Studies was just a financial decision, the center should be closed.” Ray said universities do a better job fostering free thought than any other institution — including churches, workplaces, and the military.

“You can say and do things at universities that you cannot do anywhere else,” he said. “So the notion that universities are a problem when it comes to free speech is just a lie.”

A recurrent theme in this excellent story about China’s progress is that people there regard Trump as essential to their success, including his ability to drive scientific talent from the US www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
In Beijing, a think tank at Renmin University recently published an assessment titled
"Thank Trump," which wryly hailed his efforts to hasten the "twilight of an empire," by undermining America's alliances, civil service, scientific institutions, and democratic credibility. In the past two years, the international approval rating of the U.S. has dropped nearly forty points, according to a worldwide survey by the Alliance of Democracies; in multiple polls, China now rates higher than the U.S.

four out of five of the HHS “study” authors are affiliated with the Network Contagion Research Institute. what else are these guys up to? well: newrepublic.com/article/2150...
It is not surprising, given these authors, that the report recalls earlier Network Contagion Research Institute work; as respectably as it may be packaged, it delivers content ready to drive right-wing news cycles. One 2024 NCRI report warned that diversity, equity, and inclusion programs "may implicitly or explicitly characterize members of so-called 'dominant' groups-or those who disagree with 'anti-oppressive, 'anti-racist,' or contemporary 'anti-fascist' frameworks—as oppressive, racist, or fascist." (Four of the five authors of the HHS report worked on that one.) Another NCRI report on "militant anarcho-socialist networks" from 2020, which shares two co-authors with the HHS report, included subheads like, "ACAB-LINKED MEMES APPEAR WITH CLEAR CALLS FOR VIOLENCE VIRTUALLY AND ARE USED TO SYMBOLICALLY OUST STATE AUTHORITY AND MARK TERRITORY IN THE REAL WORLD." (ACAB, of course, is international shorthand for "All Cops Are Bastards.") Lately, NCRI has accused the Democratic Socialists of America of being a "foreign agent" —dovetailing nicely with Secretary of State Marco Rubio's own attempts to drag DSA into his vintage midcentury anti-Communist crusade.

where we are at: Genspect has the ear of the HHS Assistant Secretary for Health newrepublic.com/article/2150...
To be clear: The publication of this anti-trans report is not a case of decent, evidence-minded experts at HHS being deceived. The agency's Assistant Secretary for Health Brian Christine, who promoted the report, and whose X profile includes a banner reading "Make America Healthy Again," regularly promotes medical misinformation about transition popularized by anti-trans groups. On August 13, promoting another recent HHS
"commissioned" report, called "Wolves in White Coats," Christine accused providers of gender-affirming care of having
"mutilated, and then cast aside," children
"for profit and politics." In fact, Christine was a speaker at a 2026 Genspect lobby day in Washington. That HHS turned to someone who works for some of those same anti-trans groups to produce this latest "study" also, unfortunately, tracks.
