People who have not experienced it are often not aware of just how vicious hiring processes are to the disabled. "When do I tell them about my disability?" is an agonizing tactical conversation my partner and I have had too many times. Hirers will absolutely use it to disqualify people summarily.

People w diabetes who take insulin/sulfonylureas can have a blood sugar crash, four ounces of juice or soda or a dunkin extra extra is a standard treatment for that. People with IBD - a high-output ileostomy, short bowel syndrome etc - can dehydrate quickly & may need continuous oral hydration

Chronic absenteeism skyrocketed to 40%, the highest level in decades, during the COVID pandemic when students returned full-time to their classrooms during the 2021-22 school year. And though the rates have decreased since then, the latest figure — 33.5% — released Thursday in the Mayor’s Management Report (a compendium of performance data from city agencies), reveals how challenging it is for schools to move the needle. The hurdles are highest for the neediest students, particularly those who are homeless. Students with disabilities also struggle with attendance, often exacerbated by busing-related issues.

I lost my grandmother and an aunt to dementia - it is a horrible disease, and it hurts so much to watch them go. This is a way of offering an ease in the going, even if we cannot take away the hellish disease itself. I hope more people will realize what a boon hospice can be.
