think of the companies that have profited under trump: big coal, big oil, tech. most of US allies are not willing to bet on a more sensible US in the future, and the divesting has already begun. all the corruption money going into the US will stop.

well, it very well could: when democrats sieze power and start investigating all the companies that grifted off the trump regime, it could very well turn sour.

I Vejle må kolonihusejere tage drastiske midler i brug for at få lovliggjort deres kolonihavehuse. I Ikast har en rigmand overtrådt naturbeskyttelsesloven som efterfølgende bliver dispenseret for. Lighed for loven? #dkpol #dkmedier www.dr.dk/nyheder/indl...

Gonna briefly do an AI take: it used to be possible to have interesting discussions about AI here, and it's got progressively less so. You can't just think AI is bad, or overhyped, you've also got to subscribe to a very particular worst-case scenario about *how* it's bad and how bad it is.

My comment was not on Nazis but people with div views on AI usefulness. I do agree people should inform themselves though. But if algorithms and echochambers render a large section of X users to become victims of algo-propaganda, don't we risk further polarization of society? What's the end game?

Ha, I agree: Some things can’t be compromised with! :-) but discourse here (and on Xitter) should be better than ridiculing people for having the wrong beliefs, AI included. Give people room to get smarter, also yes: let’s get them out of the Nazi bar!

Good example of the dynamic on here, which is not that the site has "pro-AI" and "anti-AI" factions, but that even acknowledging the existence of a massive field of ubiquitous new technologies is verboten except via hysterical, belligerent ignorance. It's a pure cultural norm untethered to reality.

AI is a tool that can be used for good or for slop. It has real potential, but humans are lazy and flawed. But some researchers are actually working to leverage it in a helpful way, and learning how to best use its strengths.
